Default Re: Are headers worth it?

I have heard that the short tube headers are not that much of an improvement over stock. These being the edelbrock, BBK, and JBA. However, I have heard that the long tube headers do improve the numbers. The only version of a long tube header i have seen are the Dyna Tech Headers. These are the set of headers that i choose to go with and I have been happy with them. They also have high flow cats. as an option. I have them but i have also melted a set. Next I am going to bypass O2 sensors and drill them out.

Hope this helps.

Bassani ,works well and Dynatech. but unless you have a supercharger or bigger cam and ported heads and a tuned computer the increase will be minimal. cost to power ($1500.00 with cat's ) on a stock engine is not good ,but if you do the mod's down the road headers realy pay off. the exaust alone won't hurt your high milage trans ,but heads and cam with a cumputer tune or a blower will fry your trans quick .if you haven't done a high preformance trans rebuild with a good torque converter yet at 95k ,you might want to do that first B4 engine mods to increase engine output . ya gotta tinker the Bassani ,the Dynatech's are the way I would go . if ya got the $$$$ cash to spend headers are alway an improvement over the stock exaust manifolds .

DON'T get the Edelbrock!! They don't stand behind their headers, even though they say otherwise. I learned from experience after replacing 2 sets at my own expense (broken welds at the collector). I went to the Borla that have a lifetime guarantee.

SuperMAXX Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems are engineered to give your car winning performance both on the track and offroad. Designed to be a direct replacement fit for restrictive factory exhaust and catalytic converter systems, these systems are a great way to get that extra power you are looking for.

If you still want more power, our testing has shown the SuperMAXX System's increased flow, actually multiplies the effects of other power add-ons like intake improvements, supercharging, and cat back systems by allowing them to work to their full potential.

?Racing inspired long-tube designs
?CAD-designed Aero-flow collectors with low profile, 4-bolt, leak-free connection
?Uses factory sensors
?Quality stainless hardware for long life
?Unique NASCAR-style merge on many models
?Jig-located mounting brackets and flanges for direct bolt-on fit

Critical aspects of header and exhaust function are carefully considered in the design of Dynatech components. Years of race winning experience along with continued development and testing ensure every Dynatech product delivers real performance and power.

Superior design and skilled Dynatech craftsman are responsible for Dynatech?s outstanding quality ? a difference that can be seen at first glance.

Beyond simply fitting the application, SuperMAXX Systems are engineered to produce power ? real, usable, seat of the pants power. Our systems are dyno proven to substantially increase horsepower and torque throughout the rev range. An increase that will be sure to put a smile on your face.

Laser-cut flanges, flat ground welds and gussets (on some models) ensure great fit, a leak-free seal and long life.

Mandrel bends and joints provide smooth internals and superior flow.

Careful consideration to port matching and flange / tube exit angle enhances power.

Tube length in every model is optimized for power output and space constraints. Equal length tubes are utilized when possible for increased torque and power.
