Default HAS THIS HAPPPENED TO ANYONE?

Ok, lets go 65 on the free-way, then the H3 automaticly shifts in low-lock bringing the truck down to 20mph. push on the gas and then the front diff explodes!! What the hell - this was a fun ride!!!! The dealer fixxed the front diff and tells me that i am full of shiit that the truck did what i told them and sends me on my way. this is the third time it has happened (second front diff) first time they replaced the front diff and went throught the transfer. Second time nothing happened. This time rebuilt the front diff, but did nothing with the begining problem!!! Now there is snow on the roads and I am scarred to drive over 40 mph. If this has happened to anyone let me know so I can tell the service department what other have done to correct the problem. This has been going on for 3 months now and I am getting really upset that they will not do anything about it.

I pretty sure this would be almost impossible. Even if you hit the button to change to 4-lo the TC module will check speed before it will allow engagemet, so if going over 20mph it wouldn't allow you to do it. Several, I mean several things, would have to have fault all at the same time for this occur.

I call bullshit. The t-case won't shift into low-lock unless the tranny is in neutral. I could understand there being a problem with the PCM and the ABS or traction control being applied, but not just randomly shifting the t-case.

And if the truck is really doing what you're saying, why the hell would you give it gas? Also, please provide details on the exact damage to the front diff.

I know you all do not believe me witch is ok. this is what it felt like!! I also know that it can not happen. But something hade to happen to do this. The reason I pushed the gas is because the last time when it released the truck went on the way like nothing ever happened. This time the right axle poped out of the dif. Like I said before I am no tec so really do not know what happens - all I can sat is that is what it felt like. If someone can tell me what could be happening that would help me in trying to get it fixed right.

Have your dealer contact technical assistance and see if there is any literature newly released for your issue. possibly something from Dec 6 2007. Just a hunch.

Are you sure it was low lock and not just high lock. I've seen it where the plastic shift fork in the t-case breaks and the t-case defaults to high lock. I don't see how this could cause the front diff to explode unless it did it while taking a very tight turn at higher speeds. I guess the t-case control module could be on the fritz though, although I've never seen it.

Spinning wheels? Blown differential? Why does this sound like....hmmm.

What were the road conditions when your repeat anomaly occurred? Ice/snow? WTF?

I do believe if you step on gas hard with a four wheel drive with a center differential you can blow a differential if on slippery traction conditions because torque will go to the wheel that grabs and bingo. Best to use a little restraint when conditions are icy and dicey .
