I am leaving on an extended off-road trip in Death Valley in 4 days. I was trying to locate spare tie rods for the H3 and followed links to a few places. Here is what I have found.

At At Alldiscountparts.com
inner set of 2 - $46.62 #15217199
outer set of 2 - $60.18 #15217992
boot $22.97
overnight from Flint, MI to them $50.00
overnight from them to me in Vegas $38.93

At Towbin Hummer in Vegas
one inner - $118.45
one outer - $152.92
one boot - $38.99
they could not get them to me for a whole week!

So, I asked the dealer why such a huge price difference. They said that the online place was tring to sell me parts that go to the Colorado/Canyon platform and they were half as strong. Could they have really been trying to sell me those parts online? I had to give them my VIN #, so I thought that these would be the correct replacements. Those prices for the single rods are extreme! Now, I have realized that I will not have them for the trip and will pursue the tie rod dilema farther when I return, hopefully not on the back of a tow truck.

I would be surprised if that was true. My guess is the parts guy at the dealership is just trying to justify the usual outrageous dealer markup. Could be wrong but that would be my guess.

I ran those parts numbers (your #15217199 should be #15217991) on gmpartsdirect.com and they're even cheaper than that by a GOOD bit.

But, is that the part number for the H3 or the Colorado/Canyon?

Per the GM electronic parts catalog:
Hummer H3 Inner – 15132760 (list price $45.16 each)
Outer – 15132759 (list price $64.75 each)

Colorado/Canyon Inner – 89060621
Outer – 26095458

Please understand, that the parts catalog can change and not be updated, so do not assume these numbers are correct. They could have been superseded or these numbers could have superseded previous numbers.

It does show they did and probably do have different parts for these two vehicles.

Still here, dropping like flies around me, but they keep missing me. Central PA - Tropics

When I retire, I'm headed to the desert. Hot dry and no one will visit me.

Did I get the part numbers right?

There will be great trails, and everyone is welcome...just bring the Captain Morgan's.
(Actually, considering Moab.)

If I do decide to move to Moab in a few years, I will never be home. Too much to see, trailes to ride, photos to take, and so many National parks in the area. In fact, if I do move there, come look me up in Arches. They offered me a job last year (volunteer retiree) to take people on hiking trips through Fiery Furnace. Guess I'm one of only a few who have been in that area about ten times in six or seven years.

Have there been lots of bending of tie rods?

Do you think the tie rods would be easey to replace in the field?

Do you need a puller or pickle fork snd BFH?
