Family Victimized in Home Invasion

Web Editor: Sean Rowe
Last Modified: 1/23/2003 11:23:28 AM
Seven Black men allegedly forced their way into a Gwinnett County home, tied up the residents and ransacked the place Wednesday night.

One of the victims, 19-year-old Enrique Calderon-Romero, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center to be treated. Gwinnett police said no one else was injured in the incident.

Romero and 20-year-old Salgado Eder told police they ran into two of the intruders about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, when they left work at La Frontera Mexican Restaurant on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Two armed Black males reportedly approached Romero and Eder as they drove out of the restaurant's parking lot.

The two men forced Romero and Eder out of their car and into the rear of another vehicle, police said. The gunmen made Romero and Eder disclose where they lived.

After arriving at the residence, located in the 2500 block of Waterford Park Drive, Romero and Eder said they noticed a red Hummer/H2 had followed them. They told police five other Black males got out of the Hummer and entered the house.

Along with Romero and Eder, five other family members at the home were tied up as the suspects ransacked the residence. The victims managed to free themselves after the intruders left and called police.

A Gwinnett police spokesperson said it was unclear what was taken from the home. Composite descriptions of the intruders were not immediately available.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (770) 513-5300.
