Default Drove the 08-Rant

And I am now in the market for a good used 05-07. The interior is sooo very nice, but just not for me. No squeaks, every thing in place. Just not for me. No air vent tiddies. And i thought it was getting a huge power increase? My 05 was just as quick. The tranny was non-co-operative in shifting and mandated the turbo button to be pushed for better shifting. The ride is soo smooth and quiet. Not quite what i wanted.

So now we have a kinder, gentler H2? Still w/o adjustable rear seat backs? Pass-

Nice to see the salessluts were no more educated on the product. Dude knew nothing about: 6 speed, navi system, air ride...need I continue?

So far in my car/truck buying experience, the BMW salesmen are the more educated about their fleet. They attend a school of sorts and have to take a driving course that helps to maximize the road test when one takes a BMW for a drive. I was amazed at the knowledge this guy had about the vehicle, thus helping my overall decision to buy the car. I wish Hummer dealers followed the same path.

The new salesmen at the dealership by my house know less about the specs of a hummer than my wife. And I'm not talking about the hummer's i used to get before we were married!

Did you say turbo button?

Mom and dad have the new motor and trans in there denali and it made a huge difference. Granted a H2 is 1500-2000 lbs heavier than a denali but the hp jump and lower first gear should at least feel better.

The physical tranny has really not changed much. It is still the same housing and clutches. Basically a 3speed trans with Overdrive giving you 4 total gears. What they did this year was change the four gear ratios and have the Overdrive no work with gears 1 and 2 for the 2008 Model. In previous models overdrive would only work in unison with 3rd gear. Over all what they have done is help keep the engine in its power curve.

Seriously guys, im sure most of us when going to buy a car/truck, know more than the salesman! Salesman are salesman....they want to sell, and, as unfortunate as it may be, the top salesman dont really need to know about the product much.

A good salesman could sell somthing they know nothing about.

Is it a good thing its that way, DEFINATLY NOT. But thats kinda the way it is in a lot of industries.

I doubt that it is that way in most industries. Car salesmen are herded in as fast as they can. And they usually quit ASAP. This isn't chevy sales where they have ten different cars with ten different models. It is A 75k machine and I expect them to know atleast what is in the damn brochure. I am not excusing them for being "Salesmen". The only reason a salesman does not know his product is fu#$ing laziness. Name me another industry that you would pay 75k for something and not get someone who is somewhat knowledgeable about there product. I would expect it even in mobile home sales. It is up to the dealership to put knowledgeable people on there floors. Get their asses on the forums to get the pulse of the owners and shoppers and have them memorize the damn product. Don't tell me it has a 4 speed like the yahoo above when it has a six.

I made my o8' deal online with an out of state dealer after visiting three local dealers here. Two of them would not discount anything off sticker, and the other one was just very high pressure to buy now. It was like walking into a trap, i could not wait to get me and my wife out of there as fast as possible. Our overall feeling was we were shocked that hummer lets dealers use high pressure tactics to get people to drop 65K on the spot. I found a dealer online that treated me very proffesionally and discounted heavily off sticker. I bought a plane ticket and drove her home!

I hear you there. I do all of my haggling via email. I buy from the same dealership everytime, but by doing it over email you really can think things out and not make a rash decision. I wouldn't do it any other way.

I drove the 08 over night. The seat heater sucks, the seats are uncomfortable. I was not impressed at all.
