Default Post Your Voting Experiences Here

We can leave this a sticky for a day or two.

I left the house this morning at 5:45 and headed to my polling place, stopping at a surprisingly busy 7-11 to grab a soda to keep me awake. A clerk there said they’d been busy since 4am. “Good grief”, I thought, “the place is going to be crazy.”

And it was. Not bad crazy, just crazy busy. The entire church lot was full and the side streets were filling as well.

I took my place in line and waited… and waited… and waited. Thank goodness I had an umbrella because it was raining pretty steady when I arrived. It had slacked off by the time I left.

A nice neighbor lady and I talked for a bit with some other folks and time went by rapidly.

I’ve got to hand it to my fellow voters because it appeared they all knew not to wear campaign material. I didn’t even see a button.

As we got closer a poll worker came out and advised us of a shorter line if your last name started with the winning letters. Yippeee! I got to bypass a couple dozen people.

By 7am I’d gotten my coded card so I could vote and a few minutes later I was out in the rain heading to the truck to go home.

All-in-all it was a painless experience and I didn’t see any problems with anything. Everyone was orderly and the poll workers got us in and out quickly. No complaints from me.

The racial makeup while I was in line was heavily white with less than a dozen blacks and about the same number of orientals.

The best part, no liberal campaign signs or workers were anywhere on the property. That was a pleasant sight, indeed.

If you’ve read this far I guess you want to know who got my vote so here’s a few names.

McCain - Palin, Gilmore, Sessoms, Wilson, and Sweet
I’m not going to bore you with the rest.

Kudos to the Virginia Beach Registrar for job well done.

Update: It’s 9:52, I just spoke to my wife who’s in line to vote and she told me Chic-fil-a is handing out free chicken biskets! Man, I didn’t get a free bisket….

I got to the polls at 6:40 this morning, the wait was about 45 minutes since we only had 5 voting machines.

In past small local elections they've had as many as 16 machines at the same location; it's a bonehead move to cut back on the biggest election of all time. They said anyone in line at 7 pm can still cast their ballot, I'd hate to be that guy still waiting to vote when the results are announced.

In Kansas we vote to retain Judges so the ballot ended up being 6 pages on-screen requiring a little bit of simple tech to navigate the touch screen options. Easy for anyone that uses a computer, but I can see where the elderly might get confused or suspect they'd voted differently than they wanted by accident.

No pain at all for me. Left house at 1030 and went to sons school couple blocks away. Then off to subway and back home by 1115.

Had some signs set up outside school but no one really saying anything. Funniest part was different parties would hand out sheet with candidates. Green from republicans and blue for democrats. Was amusing seeing those in line and what color flier they had

My son wants to watch me vote and see the actual ballot, so I have to wait until 3pm PDT, when he gets out of school. But, I'm sure hoping it's either a landslide (McCain) or, if not, have us (California) make a difference (for McCain). I'm hoping it won't all be over by 3pm with everyone east of us already making the decision. (Unless, of course, it's for whom I want!).

Yesterday(Monday), the day before the deadline to have our mail-in ballots in, I received in my mailbox TWO(2) ballots. Of course, I only filled out one ballot and dropped it off.

I hate this mail-in crap. It's ripe for fraud.

The wife went early 6am and hit the workforce 15 minute delay.

For me did the early lunch and got in and out in 5 minutes. No Bama storm troopers or other liberal trash related issues to slow things down...

We went after Rich got off work and there wasn't a line at all. We were in and out within 5 minutes or so. We got free Starbucks. Chic Fil A is all sandwich type stuff. Really good sandwiches. Just don't expect to get chicken pieces like wings and stuff. It's not that kind of place so they can't really compare to KFC or Popeyes.

Got to the polls at 6:15am. 2 people ahead of me. Took no more than 4-5 minutes.
Stopped off at Starbucks for a coffee on the way to work. Got a free coffee.
Noticed a few corners where Obama supporters were. Waving signs. Say no McCain supports doing any of that. Probably a money thing.

I parked funny on the street, because I suck at parallel parking and popped a few tasty spearmint gum peices in my mouth.

Walked up and got to get in the shorter P-Z line outside. Got behind this one-eyed dude (no glass, pure One-eyed Willying it) with an abnormally bright long raincoat on and some big Indiana Jones hat. He was talking about his disability benefits to this saggy boobed lady with an Eyeore Hoody on.

Behind me a mother and daughter. The only part of their conversation I was willing to witness went something like this:

"Yeah, they snuck in on Potato Ships...."

"Wow, Potato Chips?"

"No Potato Ships, in the Potato barrels."

"Potato CHIPS?"

"SHIPS!"

"Oh, because I was thinking... how horrible! Potato chips and all that salt would get into their eyes....."

Just Damn.

Then they started passing out chicken biscuits from Chic Fillet. Yeah, the smell of fried chicken is really helping my feelings about the outcome of this election.

Fawk. An hour of the one eyed whiner and the saggy boobed fashion bomb and the potato chips ladies. Then when we got inside the crowded church hallway and I couldn't help think that I was breathing in everyone elses breath. It was humid and well.....breathy.

I stood there people watching, gandering at boy scout plaques on the "buttcrack white" painted cinderblock walls and trying to inhale the air from within my own clothing.

I finally voted smoothly...... and then the "sticker lady" put the sticker on my hoody.... she bypassed my waiting fingertips and patted it on my chest. Yep, I was groped on my left boob by an older lady on my way out. Feeling real good about this election........
