Default Assessing value 1992 H1

Over from the H3 Forums...

Here is the info on an H1 I have found for sale, I'm curious what you all would value it at.

1992 HUMMER H1, (first year for civilian), burgundy, 78K miles, 6.2 diesel, 3 speed TH400 with TransGo shift kit, new Super Swamper tires with spare about 3k miles ago plus original set of wheels and tires, new glow plugs (amazing starts last winter), Brush guard with 12K lbs Warn winch, Roof rack with Hella lights, Rear tire rack for tailgate mount (not shown), new heavy ball joints and various suspension and drive train updates, updated interior with spray on Quiet Car sound proofing and insulation throughout, $25800 obo.

Thanks!

Judging from what's available, I'd say around 25k on a good day.

I'm no expert, tho.

That seems expensive to me. You can get a much newer (like a '98 I saw on ebaymotors) for around $30k. IMO, thats a big savings for a 7 model year differance. Good luck with the search!

I'd be concerned with how well the surface was prepped and what the sound-proofing might be hiding.
Do you know anyone that is familiar with H1's that can give it a thorough inspection? It'd be wise money spent.

I agree with both of these posts. Also, your pics are low res, but it looks like the body is not in such great shape. I think you could do better.

Does it have rocker panel protection?

Not saying it didn't come as burgundy, but tan was the only color offered in 1992, unless you paid extra for a paint job. So, if it was repainted, make sure it was done right.

I'd say they're asking too much though. Get it inspected (if it isn't for sale locally). Post where its for sale, you may find someone here willing to check it out.

For an inspection, I've used these guys before, and they had awesome service. They'll even give you a good appraisal for a few dollars extra:

I dont know how well a 3 speed transmission would do on a truck that heavy, man times have changed with 6 , 7 , and 8 speeds out there now.

The tranny doesn't have overdrive, so it handles the truck just like the 4 speed with no top gear. I have a 92, and it is absolutely wound up at 55-60, I'm always waiting for it to shift into 4th, yet it never does. Ideal cruising speed is 40-45 mph. when offroading, which is all this truck is good for, 3 speed is perfect.

A 4l80-E can be added in one desired. To make it easiest you buy a manually controled trans (no computer), then in stall the shifter out of a 94 and up H1.

$20-25k is fair for that truck by the sounds of it... if you are in the Denver area find other "experienced" hummer owners and ask them to look at the truck with you. Dave Breggin is in CO (I believe Littleton)...

The '92s had very few electrical issues compaired to the TD's and were much simpler. However, the 3spd was not so good for highway jaunts, the 6.2L NA is just strong enough to move the truck down the road but you can find restrictions off-roading (at least I did)....

Besides, it would be a great truck to modify the drivetrain in and update it ;-)
