cashmere leather
I want to know how many owners with cashmere leather are seeing excessive ware and staining on the drivers seat. Our dealer has replaced the cover on the driver seat (at 5000 miles) and then found that the new cover had a rip in it so a new one has been ordered, it has only been 30 days since they put that one on and it is already turning black from my wifes clothes (professional dress attire). I have contacted Hummer and they said that this has not been an issue that they know about, I am considering options to keep the new cover from staining. The dealer is suggesting that I put on step rails to relieve the amount of wear and tear caused from getting in and out but we dont really want them, I have looked at seat covers but I shouldnt have to cover what I paid so much for.
I am following the proper channels through Hummer and they have been great but if others are having the same problem then you need to speak up so that they will identify this as a problem that needs to be fixed.
Please respond with any thoughts or suggestions and if you are seeing the same issue.

Re: cashmere leather
are you cleaning them with leather conditioner??? Go get some meguires leather conditioner and cleaner in one. Also start cleaning you pants. Your seats are white man. They are going to get dirty and rinkle a little from you stretching the leather. So clean em and condition.

Re: cashmere leather
Thats why i got the black... But the rip is most likely not happening from getting in and out, my assumption would be when it was re -leatherd they put it on jsut a tad to tight, as for the staining, in all honesty the best idea would just be to put a seat cover over that seat, I mean there really isnt anything else to do, but have you tried looking around maybe for a different interior leather cleaner!? Good luck with this!

Re: cashmere leather
OK, thanks for the replies so far, here are my answers to a couple of your questions. I have used Meguires leather cleaner conditioner...did nothing, tried a damp cloth...nada. I have found myself looking at every car I see with a light colored interior and sure they look worn and discolored but these cars also are several years old, again we just crossed 5000 miles. The rip in the new cover looks like a small 1/4" cut from a knife, dealer told us about it before we ever picked up the truck and already had a new one on order. The phone number I called was sent to me on a survey about our service. 1-866-HUMMER6, they were very nice and also gave me the number to the marketing department to see if they are planning to make seat covers in anything other than dark charcoal, answer is no. I did find some nice seat covers online that match but they are almost 300.00 just for the front seats and again, I paid a bunch of money for this leather, shouldnt have to cover it.

Re: cashmere leather
The blue from jeans comes right off with some leather conditioner/cleaner. I had the same problem and when I wiped them down with my Armor All Leather Wipes it came right off (with a little elbow grease of course).

Re: cashmere leather
I gota tell yah, I wanted that color but knew it HAD to be a problem.
If you wear a very light colored suit (man or woman) its gona show more dirt then a dark one, (common sense)

Re: cashmere leather
sit on a towel. I've seen people with light colored leather keep towels or shirts to sit on in their cars before. Turn off the heated seats. Maybe your ass is sweating and your staining your chair.

Re: cashmere leather
I have a black leather jacket (that I get cleaned regularly) that left black stains on my cashmere leather seat. Nothing would get it off. The dealer even tried some cleaner they had. They ended up replacing the leather.

Re: cashmere leather
If the seats are soaking up dye from your clothes like that, pick a good dark color that you like, get some leather dye, sealer and make 'em whatever dirt hiding color you want..

Re: cashmere leather
Just like cleaning leather furniture, use Ivory dish soap and a clean damp sponge.

Re: cashmere leather
I like light interiors, but with the dirt the collect, I'm much happier having black. I think if you want something different, the ebony with morocco is the way to go.

Re: cashmere leather
We have considered going with black replacement but not sure how that would look with the rest of the interior being tan, have also considered going with cloth since the leather is obviously low quality, comments?

Re: cashmere leather
i recall a post on here that a detailer used woollight fabric cleaner in a mixture of water to clean the leather. There were pics of how well it worked.
