My 06 mirrors should be in by the end of next week...Im willing to stomach the look inorder to get lower wind noise and vibration, and a power fold feature that actually works

Definitely let me know how that turns out as I am contemplating if I should do this or not.

I was only half correct in my earlier statement.
It turns out this is not a nationwide bulletin. This was more of a regional bulletin issued by our warranty rep. So we have been told to do that. Maybe other reps in the country are doing the same. But some places may not be doing that.

Msg - 2003-2005 HUMMER H2 Outside Rearview Mirrors #HUS20050065 - (Sep 19, 2005)
2003-2005 HUMMER H2 Outside Rearview Mirrors

The outside rearview mirrors have been redesigned for the 2006 HUMMER H2 and are much improved over those used on prior models. Should you have the need to replace a mirror on a 2003-2005 H2, replace both mirrors with the 2006 parts which are a slightly different design. Also, the new mirrors are all chrome - there is no black version (this should be fine for most customers). The new part numbers are 15835056 (LH) and 15835057 (RH).

These new P/Ns are not currently available through GMSPO but are expected to be available the week of October 17, 2005. It is suggested to delay any mirror replacement until that time. However, if a customer prefers not to wait or wants the original mirror, the older parts are available in quantity.

I went to Los Gatos Hummer (Silicon Valley Hummer)and they said they will only replace the mirror that is bad.
(My right mirror is bad) They said if I wanted to pay for the left 06 mirror they would replace the right mirror with the 06 version.
I said I'd pass they're way over priced on most parts.
I'll wait until the mirror goes out again and see what happen.

That is a bunch of BS!! How can they replace a part under warranty and not make it match the vehicle. That is like saying we are going to replace your hood because there was a problem with the metal but we are not going to paint it

Sooo.. General consensus is what? Should I swap my '06 mirrors for some older '05 models or stick with the new design cause the '05's will blow up and...

Must say I don't much care for the new look, but if they are better than the older ones I'll live with them.

Just had my passenger side mirror replaced last week on my '05 SUT. I wasn't sure about the look of the new style, so I waited to see if the dealer would even mention it. No mention at all. Oh well, I guess I'll wait to decide if it breaks again...

Don't you have some on the lot?

I have noticed my driver side mirror shakes pretty good at speed...yet does not feel loose...

I've had a problem with my mirrors in the past, but cycling through a few times always fixes the problem. I have a feeling if I bitched enough I could get brand new mirrors.

I heard the '06's are better made anyway. Gears, motor, etc...

Wow, I don't care for those. They look cheap! How many times do we need to see "H2" or Hummer plastered all over the truck.

I to would like to know if anything can be done for a mirror after the 36,000 mile warranty. My mother-in-law has her '04 H2 in for service right now at Ken Batchlor here in San Antonio, & they quoted my wife a price of $817 to replace the driver's side mirror. The mirrors were replaced August before last for the same problem (won't fold/shake). I told my wife that was rediculous & to talk to the service manager. He said there was nothing he could do. If its a known problem GM should fix it regardless if you're w/in warranty or not.
