Default largest tire to fit on stock h3?

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so forgive me if I ask a dumb one, but I am looking to see what is the largest size off road tire I can git on the stock H3 (adventure package) without rubbing?

I've seen some people put 315 75 R16, but it would seem to me the these would rub a the slightest road bump, or as soon as your steered...

Am i wrong? and can someone tell me what is the largest size off road tire I can git on the H3 without rubbing?

Thanks!!!

Yes.

My 35's only rub if I crank the steering wheel all the way. I thought this would annoy me but I don't even notice it. AND the technician at the dealer said that it won't hurt anything. If you are in full crank, then you are not going very fast anyway.

And bumps? Have you looked at the stock H3 lately? It already has a lift compared to - well - everything else stock!

I was a sceptic at first but no longer. The benefits of the trade off FAR out weigh any disadvantages.

I am running 33" BFGs but am considering bumping up to 35"s and know they will rub slightly. I say go for the 35"s, you will love them. If you are worried about the slight rubbing, just keep in mind that some H2s rub with the stock tires, no big deal.

hm.. is there nothing in between that would work?

or if you go 35's are there maybe some aftermarket wheels with better backspacing that would allow for no rub on the inside?

How about rubbing inside the fenders on full compression?

finally, do you have no problems with transmission due to the increase diameter (ie engine having a harder time)?

I'm running 35's, and no biggie for me. I can still make a u-turn in the second lane.

What about off roading? no touching inside the fender top?

What impact do the 35's have on acceleration and mpg?

Toyo makes a Open Country AT 295/75R16 that is 33.5 I think.

The Toyos barely feel any different onroad than the stock Bridgestone's. Very smooth ride and not much of an increase in noise.

Not at all. Like Bully said, they only rub at full lock or if the tire is fully stuffed.

Well, yes. You can get the stock tires to rub in certain situations. If you're really worried about rubbing, stay with a 33" tire or maybe move up to just a 305.

My Stock 33's rub parts of the top of the inner wheel well off when off-roading at the sand dunes. I mean I physically peeled away little shards of the wheel well. Could be that I was only at 16 psi so the tire was fatter than usual and moving a lot faster than crawling or mudding.

all the guys on the rubicon pics seem to have the same tire though..
seems a bit bigger than the 33, but not quite 35... anyone know what that tire is?

also, i would love to go 35s but I do intend to off roading quite often... i don't want the tire ripping off the fender or shredding itself to pieces in the process... any one done serious rock crawling with 35s on stock machine?
how much rubbing happens when fully stuffed? just a bit or tear the fenders off rubbing?

and what about something like a 34 size tire? any one recommend a specific one?
For example i found this:
Super Swamper LTB
Size 34x10.50-16 LT
Black Letters
Load Range E
$136.99

Frankly, I am surprised no one has the definitive answer on this... I 've been jeepin for many many years, and on my wrangler or cherokee, every one knew exactly what was the max size tire that would fit with no rub under any circumstances for each model...

I think you have been given basically a definitive answer several times, a 35" will rub some at full locked or full compression but it is no big deal. The same can happen with the stock 33"s. If you are extremely worried about rubbing, stick with the 33"s and keep it to a minimum or drop to 32"s if the minimum is too much. As far as the Rubicon group, they were all running 35"s. As I said before, I think you should go with the 35"s, you will love them.
