Default i made it to alaska

I've been waiting 2 yrs to get here. But I'm finally here. I drove the 4,300 miles from central Texas to Anchorage, Alaska. It was a long beautiful drive. I saw bears, bison, caribu, deer, eld, antelope, and fox. The aspen leaves had and were changing into their fall colors and were mixed with the greens of the pine tree's. I took over 400 pics, but here are just a couple. Also, while I was coming up through Colorado, I picked up some 35" Toyo M/Ts for dirt cheap. So, once I get settled in here I'll have them mounted.

Welcome to Paradise!

It's great to see you were trained to catch bait in the lower 48!

Now put that stuff on a hook and go catch fish!

What part of the Great State are you calling home?

GREAT PICTURES! I made the drive from Missouri to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in 2005 in my H3. It was one of the most beautiful drives and the people I met along the way were a story in themselves. Calgary, Banff, Kluane National Park, and Whitehorse greatly exceeded my expectations. Would love to do it again someday. The country up there was just made for Hummers! How did your windshield do with those gravel roads?

The dive was awesome! I had to fix a couple chips on the passengers side of the windshield. Insurance took care of it. I'm just glade I could get it fixed before things start freezing up. I'm stationed at Fort Richardson right here by Anchorage. It's absolutely beautiful here. I missed the fishing season. But I'm still searching for rainbows in the rivers. Anybody up here? I picked up a used set of Toyo M/Ts for dirt cheap coming up through Colorado and now that I'm settled in, I'm having them mounted tomorrow. So be expecting some new pics of the truck. I haven't gotten out in the woods yet with my truck. The mud is extremely think and deep up here, so I'm kinda looking for a battle buddy I can pull out. Haha! My 3 was awesome on the drive. Especially with the nasty roads. They AK highway got pretty wicked between whitehorse and the Ak border. I swear the trailer was holding on for dear life. Those are some big halibut! Can't wait for next sumer. There is a place here on post that I can rent a ocean going boat for dirt cheap. They have everything I could possible need for anything up here. I just need my pops to ship up my pee shooters. It's erie walking up these rivers knowing that the bears are feeding aggressively this time of year, as they get ready to go into hibernation.

Well, if anybody makes it up to Anchorage, hit me up! I'm always down for whatever, or I could atleast square you away with what you need. Or if anyone is up here already, hit me!

Well, I just got back from having my tires put on and a new alignment. Just makes me love my truk that much more. I think the next thing I'm gonna do it a couple nice lights mounted on the brush gaurd. I'd really like to have a couple polive type lights mounted on the windsheild. I've always thought that would be awesome and functional. After that maybe a snorkel. They're just so damn expensive. Here's a couple pics of a salmon I pulled out of campbell creek yesterday. I didn't think they were still in the streams. But I saw a pair of them. Shamefully I foul hooked him. he went to hit the lure and missed, so the current pushed the lure into is pectoral fin and hooked him pretty good. broke my hook getting it out. I probably could hooked up legally with another cast. Enjoy! And there will be many many more pics of the 3, me, and alaska to come.

Rred,
I just love your pictures of Alaska. I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in the 60s. The Great Alaska Earthquake of '64 was still fresh in everyone's mind and we had weekly tremors. I drove an Air Force Jeep on base and that started my lifelong love affair with 4 x 4s. How I wish I would have had something like a Hummer in those days.
I LOVED the summers there and we would all get in a float plane and head to King Salmon when the salmon were running and the fish were so thick the water looked like it was boiling. You had to compete with the bears too, but if you stayed away from the falls you were OK. Field and Stream once had an article about King Salmon being the best place to fish in the world. The Dalton hadn't been built yet and the only way to cross the Yukon north of Fairbanks was by ferry in the summer. You're going to love it there - keep those pictures coming.

i went south down seward this afternoon. i was headed to bird creek to check out a new spot. i had just bought a new set of waders today and was pretty stoked about getting into the water. but when i got there it was all mud bank. you really couldn't get down to the water. the mud flatts up here aren't something to poke around in. they will suck you down like quick sand. and being out alone. i wasn't going to try my luck. anyways, didn't catch ****. didn't get much a chance to get my line wet. i was kind of dissappointed. but after thinking about the local. i'm heading back tomorrow and i will pull something out.
