Default H3 Nav Unit... Splan Me....

Ok ..first off I did a sarch and I couldn't find the info I wanted.

Second..I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread so that others would also be able to learn.

Third...What's weird is you can't find any operating info ..Or how the Nav unit works or what it will do on the Hummer site.

Forth.. This crap is all new to me in regaurds to what these units will and won't do. The other threads are not clear so ... here goes..

Don't Flame Me

If I oder the GM Nav unit in my 2007 H3 can I Nav while listening to the 6 CD Changer ..this of course is with the Lux package?

I assume that the control buttons come up on the Nav and are Touch Controls on the screen in the CD Mode when not naving

Also..Does the Radio appear in touch screen format on the unit?

Does the Unit Do DVD movies when not running the Nav Disc?

Not sure I'm adding XM ..but If I do ..does this also appear on the screen in touch format.
It would be really nice before you chunk out 2 grand to know WTF this thing can & can't do.

Any info you can supply here is ..Great. Or is there a web site to go to with info on this H3 unit.

Thanks..

Does the Unit Do DVD movies when not running the Nav Disc? I will say NO. I'm sure some GM attorney said no to this, since in most states it is technically illegal to watch a movie from the driver's seat.

I bet after some of them read my reply..they might jump in and list there branch of service and the year they were there.

I came here to learn from you guys before I buy my H3. An believe me you guys have been great..!!!! I have learned tons of stuff.

You guys are the greatest...

I personally would save yourself some money and just go aftermarket. Sure, you can spend more by getting the latest and greatest unit out there but you can also save yourself plenty by going with a not so new model. Either way you will end up with a better system than factory and have more options as far as what you want do with it or connect to it. I almost went with the Z1 but having never had a full time NAV wasn't sure how much I would use it. By going with the D1 I got a better system than the OEM and saved myself over $1K. Of course, after a few more months I may find myself looking at the Z1 again

Not sure if this helps you in any way but just my $0.02

Thanks Newbie,
I assume your speaking about the Pioneer System. I have to do resarch on that system. But that means Wiring and install. Not that I can't do it ..cause I can being in the Pro Audio Live Entertainment Electronics Business.

But I have to think of the Farg it factor..in other words ..do I want to wrench on a new Hummer or just say "Farg It" and sit back in my Leather and cruz.

That's why I spend time here..listening to what you guys have done.
Thanks for your input..

Anytime I can help. Yeah, was talking about the Pioneer D1. It really is a pretty simple install but even with paying a pro to do it you will save yourself some bucks. Not that there is anything wrong with the OEM unit though.

Tell that POS club that fired you guys, that your new club has access to all GM service information and some minor troubleshooting.
