I bought the H3 book before I bought my H3.

Some of the protoype testing and engineering pictures sold me on the H3.

I haven't read the book, in fact, didn't even know it existed until today. The problem with many of these types of books is there is always some speculation thrown in to help sell.
Only thing I can say without reading the book is that what was mentioned earlier is not all true. Information posted on the I-6 is correct, it would not fit, but the reason for the I-5 was place of manufacture, basic chassis to be used, availability of the I-5, etc.

What I do know for sure, is at this time, there is NO SC or TC designed for the existing engines in the H3 from the factory, unless they are via GM Accessory Parts, something I don't get involved with. But I have not heard of anything in regard to this, so at this time I would say a SC or TC from GM would probably not be coming.

Buzz, I know the 6.0L will fit, in fact I know for sure the LS6 will fit, but I'm wondering, if they switched out the front diff. If not, I would expect with that added torque, that front diff won't last too long.
Cool package though....

All I can say is what he told me. He said that the diffs were stock. Now I have no idea if that is the truth or not. They may be a ticking timebomb waiting to go off!!

You know "for sure" that the LS6 will fit, huh? Does that mean that they built a prototype with the LS6???

Not for sale to the public. Besides, I believe that is what Gordon runs in the desert series (non-stock).

Yeah, I did get some pictures of it. I will try to post them when I get home. It was pretty cool. I think he said it had about 450HP and got about 20+ MPG

At my Hummer Club event Monday a AM General tech told me 2 H3's blew front diffs on the Farmington trails last year with a GM product Eng. I had some issues becasue I have a base H3 but did 90% of what the H1's were doing. SOme of the H1 owners were a little miffed my 28k rig was all over the sheet.

Yes, they believe the hardening of the gear set is all that is required. I guess it has helped, but not the real cure for the problem. I don't agree with them, but they certainly don't care.
Some bean counter somewhere has decided that it is a reasonable gamble on the number that will fail versus the number that won't fail. I think at the minimum, a stronger front diff should be added to the adventure series. I would be willing to spend 100 bucks more for a cast iron housing.

Wankel Engine
The Wankel radial engine is a fascinating beast that features a very clever rearrangment of the four elements of the Otto cycle. It was developed by Felix Wankel in the 1950s.1 In the Wankel a triangular rotor incorporating a central ring gear is driven around a fixed pinion within an oblong chamber.

The fuel/air mixture is drawn in the intake port during this phase of the rotation.
The mixture is compressed here.
The mixture burns here, driving the rotor around.
And the exhaust is expelled here.
The rotory motion is transferred to the drive shaft via an eccentric wheel (illustrated in blue) that rides in a matching bearing in the rotor. The drive shaft rotates once during every power stroke instead of twice as in the Otto cycle.
The Wankel promised higher power output with fewer moving parts than the Otto cycle engine, however technical difficulties have apparently interfered with widespread adoption. In spite of valiant efforts by Mazda, the four stroke engine remains much more popular.

LS6 is still based on the 6.0 block size.

Now that the US Navy has retired the F-14 Tomcats, perhaps we could find some used engines lying around - now that would be some horsepower....

Seriously though - I wonder if and when the 6.0 comes out if it will be available as a crate engine for a swap, along with the necessary front end parts a la the torque concern.

Or would it be cheaper to trade....

Hmmmmm....
