Default Monsoon Subwoofer upgrade

I got the Monsoon 7 speaker upgrade it has a subwoofer I am guessing in the back. I want to upgrade to a 12? or a 15? subwoofer. Can I replace the Stock subwoofer by unplugging it and plugging in a 12 or a 15? does anyone know how much output the stock 6 Disk CD player has? I am pretty much clueless on how to do this so any information would help!!!

If you want to go with a different sub you are going to have to replace the factory sub amp. This amp is separate from the head unit and is back by the sub I believe. I would go with a 10" or pair of them before I would go with a 12" let alone a 15". Are you looking for a huge jump in the low end or just a little improvement? You will get far better sound quality with a pair of 10"s. If you just looking to improve it without making it sound like it should be running on 22s and lowered, go with a pair of 8"s or a 10" in the rear gate. Just my two cents

You will have to pull the whole DS rear panel off to get to it. You can download a zip file with pics of BParker's sub install to give you some ideas. Just to warn you though, the file is 16 or 17 meg.

You should check this thread out about a new sub enclosure made by JL audio. It fits in the space that the monsoon sub and amp took up in the rear panel. You would have to find a place for a new amp, but very clean install.
