Read about this at the Corvette Forum. Pretty amazing!

I will confess back many many many years ago I had a Jetski and trailered it with a Camaro and almost experienced a similar experience. Not because I backed all the way in to the water like this guy but because of traction on the ramp. Managed to avoid this disaster.

Joe,
I am sure that this type of incident is not going to happen with your Hummer LOL

Maybe this Corvette owner will consider a H-2
for there new ride? Why would anyone pull a boat with a performance car like that or even put a trailer hitch on it?

It's too bad that people are forced to think about the legal repercussions when considering lending aid, for worry that the "victim" will randomly file suits to try to divert blame/responsibility from themself.

You know what you've got with 10,000 lawyers buried up to their necks in dirt? Not enough dirt.

As a corvetteforum.com member, I read about this yesterday and thought the same thing, DRTYFN, it really is pathetic that you can't be a "good citizen" without the worry of backfire or worse, if the "victim" turns out to be a crazed lunatic looking for trouble. Very sad..... oh well lets hope this guy learned a lesson, let someone else launch/retreive at the boatramp.

Okay, I have to confess, this happened to me about 7 years ago. I was fishing with my uncle (who is a paraplegic), and when I went ashore to get his car (a late model Acura Legend) and trailer, me, the car, and trailer backed down the ramp, but only I emerged a few minutes later.

I eased it down the ramp and came to a stop, but I could feel the car begin to slide backwards with my foot still fully on the brake pedal and just about to put it in park. The ramp was completely wet and had green stuff (algae?) growing on it. Of course, I tried to give it some gas, to no avail. My uncle was stuck on the boat for a couple of hours, as his wheelchair was in the trunk of the Acura Legend, now 20+ feet underwater. It was weird how the Legend floated out quickly some 30 feet from the shore before it began to sink, but once it started, she sank quickly. It took a diver thirty minutes to find the car in deep, muddy water.

I'm glad there aren't pictures out there comemorating the event. The mental pictures I have sinking in the car are more than enough memories.
