Default u joint question

I just replaced the u joints last week in my fiancés sequoia and while changing out the dif lube I took a look at mine. Here's the pic of my front U joint and it looks like its worked its way out, and the funny thing is there's no retaining clips. On advanceautoparts the new U joint comes with two clips. When the dealership replaced my front dif a while back did someone forget to put the clips in? I am noticing a vibration that shouldn't be there. For some reason I can't insert an image, but it looks like the bearing races are about an 1/8th in outside of the coupling. If you pm me your number I'll text you a pic asap. I just wanna know if I should drop the shaft today or not.
