Angry WTF IS going on with H2 prices???

Yesterday I went in to see if i could trade my 2003 Adventure series in for a 2008 H2, I was told that all I would get for my rig was $29,000CDN...HUH?? WHAT?? F..K That!!! The I did some digging...If you go to and search out the price difference between a brand new 2008 H2 in Canada and the exact same unit in the USA there is one F..K of a price difference!!! Here is a couple of examples:

Canadian 2008 H2 pricing
Canadian MSRP $69,535

USA 2008 Hummer H2 Pricing
USA MSRP $56,410

Thats a difference of $13,125!!! for the same truck, HOLY S..T!!

Here is an interesting fact for my Canadian brothers, the Canadian Blackbook that all dealerships use to evaluate your vehicle when you trade it in is based on USA trade in prices!! If you look up a used H2 in Canada and check it's value against the exact same unit in the US you will see that they are on par...why is that??? considering the price difference the used vehicle here in Canada should be worth 20-25% more. Anyone able to explain this to me?
Don't even think of saying it's because of GST... Another good F..KOVER is the addon's, most of the additional items we like adding to our trucks come from the US so why the F..K are they on average 30-40% more up here?

The only logical answer I can think of is that the dealerships have been playing a game of conspiracy against us the Consumer. I've been waiting for the vehicles to start leveling off in price so that when I was ready to go buy a new one I'd have a bit more buying power...not bloody likey!

Here is a Comaprison between a 2007 H2 SUV with Option package 1SC

Canadian 1SC package Price should be $85,000

USA 1SC Package At the US site you need to enter the package 1SC manually before you get the end total. Price should be around $62,000

Holy F..K!!!

wow, what would be the problem with coming down into the states and buying, then just paying the taxes that are imposed for your country.

Trust me I already though of that! Then I heard of the $2-Billion dollar class action suit against GM, Honda, CMDA(Canadian Motor Dealers Association) Chrysler and one other by a group of owners in Toronto(It is posted via the Yahoo news website). Up until yesterday dealerships in the US were more than happy to sell Canadians a car, as of today the dealerships have been warned if they sell any Canadian a vehicle they risk having their dealership licence pulled and their vehicles pulled by the manufacturer they are selling under. This is a direct manipulation of the "Competition Act" and is now being challanged in court.

So much for going to the US and getting a deal...

You have to remember its imported and taxed so it wont be the same as US.

A couple years ago I exported a 03 to Costa Rica. Was worth about 40K US. Hade to pay a little under 20K in shipping, tax, other BS. Ended up selling it for $72K.

Imported?? Yeah from the same place you guy's import it from...the plant in Indiana! Has US GM moved the Canadian production plant to India or something?? The only difference is that we may pay an extra $600-900 for transportation...apart from that we also pay a 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST) only on vehicles 5yr's and younger. Other than that there should be no real difference, so how come over the last 4 or so years has the price not changed to reflect the difference in currency rates? Next on the table will be the huge differnce in Gas prices, Canada $1.02/litre, US $2.40/Gallon, Canadian equivelent $4.08/US Gallon!! Thats a differnece of $1.68/Gallon. Another bone of contention is Brokerage fees on US imports!

It's gonna get a hell of alot worse before it gets better!! NAFTA is as good with Canada trading with the US as it is with the US trading with Mexico! FUBAR'D!

Funny thing is, a Canadian built Ski Doo snowmobile is cheaper to buy in the US than the same sled in Canada, go figure.

I know, for a great exaple of this I bought a Bombardier 230 WAKE Boat for $45,000 which was bought through Lynnwood Motoplex in Seattle, same boat up here in Canada was just over $54,000 with the stereo and bimini top upgrade. As of today, no Canadian buyers will be allowed to purchase any of their products due to the fact that failure to comply will result in loss of their franchise licence. Sounds alot like extortion!!
