Default Window motor?

Hey guys,

Been a long time reader of the boards and figured I could get some good info from you all. I was curious if anyone had any suggestions about this.
I have a 2002 open top. The other day I tried to roll down the windows on the way home and noticed the rear passenger window didn't roll down from the drivers side controls.

I thought well it is a good thing it is stuck up instead of down! I jinxed myself as when I got home I monkeyed with it, I went to the door directly to try to roll down the window. Well I tried it and it started down so I let off of the button, but the window didn't stop. It went all the way and now it won't raise. I can't tell if the motor is shot or what. Think its the window motor? I figured it must have released the motor when I tried rolling down the window at the door itself. There is no sound at all coming from the window when you hit the button. Worked fine the day before, no sluggish raising or anything.

I am no mechanic, but I have tinkered with this and that on the truck. I was looking at the door panel. How much of a problem am I asking for to attempt taking the panel off and having a look? Has anyone replaced a window motor before? Or do you think that could be the problem? Any advice is appreciated! Any suggestion on where to come across the part would help too.

Thanks alot,
Andy

Try swapping A window switch from another door to the rear door, usually the switches fail, motors rarly do compared to the switches. There quick and easy to swap.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am not sure it is the switch, unless both the driver window control switch and the door control switch itself could have both failed? I got to thinking about a fuse, but all of the windows are on the same fuse? Anymore suggestions would be great!

Yes but the console switch in the front supplies the ground and power path to the window switch. If the door switch only works in one direction that means one of the circuits from the front switch is open. In most cases the open is in the console window switch. Put A known good switch in the front and another known good switch in the door and I would almost gaurantee the window will work. The switches just pop out of the bezel and can be easily interchanged.

Thanks for all of the help! Worked perfectly after changing a switch over to the door. Now to find a new switch or two!

Glad I could help. Don't know where to get switches from other than the dealer. Cheers.

Figured I would ask about this too. My brake lights aren't coming on soon enough when I start to brake. Is there an easy way to explain how to tweak it so they will engage sooner? I use to have a problem with the brake lights sticking on but the stealership cleared that up a while back. Is it best left for the next oil change or could I do it myself?

The brake light switch is adjustable at the brake pedal
