Default Another Wheel Question

I've been reading through the threads regarding 'backspacing', rim size, etc. and am still left with some questions...

FIRST OFF: My truck is leveled with all the Cognito gear (UCAs, torsion keys, Bilstein shocks, etc.) and I am currently running BFG MT 37x12.50x17s on stock rims.

I'm thinking about changing my rims when my current tread runs out and have been looking at the American Racing Mojave's. My first thought was to stay with a 17" rim (mainly so I didn't have to toss my un-used spare), but I've been thinking about going up to 20" (20x10) with the same BFG tire (37x12.50x20).

It's my understanding that the stock rims have a 5.5" backspace, but the Mojave's are 4.5". So what should I expect if I move from the stock rim to 20x10 with the 4.5 backspacing?

I'm assuming:
  • The stance will be wider, due to the difference in the backspacing
  • The tires will look wider, due to the wider rim
  • The tires will stick out an inch or so more on each side of the truck, due to both of the above

Might I have to worry about any hub issues given the different backspacing?

Is there any other issues that I should be aware of with this setup...or things that I should consider when making this decision. It's probably worth mentioning, I do a fair bit of wheeling when I have the opportunity...this is no 'city truck.'

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can offer...

Default Re: Another Wheel Question

When I ran 20x10's with 37x13.50R20's with just Truxxx keys (up pretty much all the way) it rubbed at full cock. I could have trimmed the piece of the wheel well liner that hit (and probably would have solved the issue), but I knew I was going to go higher (and I did). ith a 12.50 (instead of a 13.50) it should hit less, I'm pretty sure the offsets of both the 20x10 XD Diesels have about the same back spacing as the ARE's.
