H3 Hummer 64 is off the scale
Default Cooper STT

I did a search and couldnt really find too much info on the Cooper STTs. Can anyone review these tires and tell me what they think of them? Strong points and weak points. I also have a guy that can get me 285/75/16 for $140 a piece and the 315/75/16 for $170 a piece. How do those prices sound?

I have them on my H3 and love them..work good in just about anything and are fairly quiet on the highway. As for the price on the 315's I work at a dealership and our price from tire dealer was $180 so I would say that is good.

I have had the Coopers (Discoverer STT's) on my H3 since 339 miles. They did awesome at the Rubi, in the sand at Pismo, and on the road in general. I would get them again. Price sounds about right.

Yeah, the guys we went on the Rubicon with were even commenting on how well the Coopers performed on the trail.

I know H2 Rocks had problems with hers. Don't know what size she was running though.

Anyone run them in the snow? I'd like a snow/ice opinion on these.

They are heavilly siped so should do well in ice and snow.***

*** Note - Pure speculation on my part besides knowing that they are siped

i have had them on for about 5000 miles. On road still relatively quite. The do very well in snow. On ice they do very good job for a mud type tire. If your concerned about ice get the cooper atr's. My wife's titan wears those and they do awesome on ice. You wont be dissapointed with either of these tires. good luck

Really, do a Google on Google with theses words:
Cooper tire Chicken bones or NHTSA Recall Cooper Tires or Recall Cooper Tires and you will get a lot of hits. These are just two out of many....

http://www.abc15.com/news/investigat....asp?did=26817

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/9570395/detail.html

I used to use Cooper Tires back in the 70s for Rally Racing, and found they were excellent. I continued to use Cooper until they started making terrible tires. So, I switched.

Not saying some of their tires are great, just saying, the ones I purchased a few years ago were the biggest piece of s**ts I have ever owned. Knew some guys who purchased their Zeons for performance, and withing six months, got rid of them.

I'll be honest, I have never tried their off-road tires, but also to be honest, I NEVER will.

I was running 35x12.5x18. The sidewalls on the Coopers seemed stiffer than other tires, and airing down for traction was a must. I had a terrible time keeping the Coopers balanced. I ruined at least one that I know of, (no visible damage, just was out of round or something) and suspected another of causing the rig to pull one way. They performed really well in the mud and on slickrock but I never got a chance to try them in snow and suspect the siping on each lug would provide good traction. The tire store I bought them from took them back under warranty and put on BFG's for a $40 per tire difference. (BFG being $40 more)

BTW, The Coopers weren't any louder either.

MarineHawk is running 37" Coopers, and I don't think he's had any problems.

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you all for the good info. If I do decide to get tires I think it will be the coopers. Since I dont have a lot to spend I have to decide if I want to buy a brush guard and lights now and get tires when I wear out the Duelers or forget the brush guard and lights and get the tires now. Hmmmm
