I was thinking of buying a cold air inake, i was looking at the Volant, AirAid, and K&N. i have heard good and bad things about putting a cold air intake on the H3. What should I do?

I would say save your money. The Stock air box on the H3 is not restrictive at all. I don’t think you will see any appreciable gains with it.

Also it will let in larger dirt particles, which is not a good thing for a truck that's going to be spending some time in the dirt.

Do you want to increase horsepower or MPG? Do you care about extra loudness or not? You may not get to much extra hp but you will feel a difference when you really get on the gas.

Not sure if I agree with the dirt particles statement. Yes, it is open but it is a much better filter. If you put the oil on there correctly it should be just as good as the OEM if not better.

The couple of hundred dollar investment may be worth it to some but not to others.

Ok...

To start there is a really large post elseware, just do a search.

But the jist of it is, if you really look your H-3 already has COLD AIR INTAKE. Pull the cover off the air box and you will notice it is fed air from within the right fender area, not the hot air from under the hood. The other concern is the aftermarket ones that use oil on the element "POSSIBLY" can effect your sensors (again search the other long post about this subject)
