Default Strange Engine Issue

This is the 3rd time that i've cold started the H3 (not literally that cold outside) and the engine makes a loud grunt, choking sound (almost like a misfire) when it first turns over. There is also a strong smell of engine exhaust in the cabin right after it turns over. Once started everything seems fine, no performance issues or warning lights. It only seems to happen when it hasn't been started several hours or overnight.

should this be something that the dealer should look into?

Thanks

This is an issue only if you find exhaust odours unpleasant. Personally I kind of like 'em. It means you got a real TRUCK. Regards 'The Rebel'

I wouldn't say that my truck started that rough, but it seems that as the truck got broken in, the engine start has become more smooth.
Mine used to crank a bit longer than in other cars I've owned, but only like a second longer, then turn over; But this only lasted for like the first 2k miles and now it turns over as quickly as I'd expect. I guess it needed to break in and allow the piston rings to seat better in the motor.

It was just long enough for me to notice that it wasn't the same as other 'new' cars that I had owned.

I also get that exhaust smell on startup, but this is more outside. If I'm out of the truck moving stuff into it while it warms up, but it certainly isn't offensive. Just a slight plume when the motor first starts and is cold.
