I meant prior to that post. But I guess you're right, it would be more subjective...

I'm more familiar with the terms quanitative and qualitative. My comments were more qualitative that quanitative.

Wow, a lot of good info here. I realize listening preferences are totally subjective but you can still get a good general idea of the overall qualities of both Sirius and XM.

Based on the comments posted, I am leaning towards Sirius. I have the XM stations on my Directv and I have been underwhelmed.

I just installed the Alpine W200 head unit, he said head, which I love, and I have the option to add either Sirius or XM.

What are the contracts like for each? Do they offer trial runs?

I have both and lean toward XM.

I don't spend as much time on Sirius, so I am always trying to find the right station for my mood. The supershuffle is kinda cool.

I think a merger would be good, they could free up bandwidth by getting rid of duplicate channels

I listen mostly to XM- chill, ethel, lucy, 20 on 20(not since timberlake came back), U pop and Holly. I listen to XM chill and Cinemagic while flying because they do better in the background with all the radio muting that goes on.

They are both way better than radio, around alabama anyways.

Seriously... Satalite radio is garbled. I used to think maybe my radio was bad... but truth be known, it comes it like crap on any system. It's FAR from CD quality... sounds like a 48k stream from the internet. My wife swore by XM (We still have it), but once I got some music she liked on the Ipod, that's all she listens too. So much clarity.

I am however curious about high definition radio. Commercials don't bother me as long as there are other stations to turn too. Sometimes there is just crap on the radio. That's why we have an IPOD!

I've only ever had Sirius but I love it. And yes, a station with all 80's hair metal really is necessary, plus they have the cute dog.
