Then again 40 years of production will tend to perfect a platform. That being said I LOVE my H2 and the 2 vehicles could not be more different. Driving the Defender was, well.... raw... It was noisy, bouncy, really cold or really hot depending on the season ( I did not have a Hard Top)! On the other hand...... My H2 goes anywhere I want to go (As long as the trail is WIDE enough) In luxurious Style and by that I mean that it is as capable as its driver and will take you where ever you want to go along with 4 other people all their gear in a Climate Controlled cabin featuring Sat Nav, Satellite Radio and Heated leather seats.... Do I miss my Defender? Yea a Little...would I give up my H2?..... all i have to say is, they will have to pry my dead fingers from its leather wrapped steering wheel.....

PS... I have several friends that had Disco's during the period I owned my Defender and they maintained love/hate relationships with their vehicles...Only one of them has kept their Disco, It's paid for and he thinks its cheaper to fix it if (when) it breaks than to buy somthing new. Once you drive an H2 you will never look back. The Truck is so much better than what you imagine. When the Diesel rolls out next year, I'm buying a shiny new one!

Thanks a lot for all the info. Although my fav of fav SUV's is the Defender 110, I will probably go for the H2 for cost reasons at this time. And my dad will be proud. 37 years old and I may be getting my first American made car! Coming from a dad who has only owned Chevy's this will be a big deal to him!

Did someone say they are going to offer a H2 Diesel? Maybe I should wait!

Thanks again for all the information. When I get one I will be sure to let you guys know.

I owned 2 Disco's. I did the Emu lift and axle upgrades. It was a very capable off road vehicle. I exploded 1 t-case in a 99 model and a trans in a 2000.
I had a bumper sticker that read-"Caution: This vehicle drops the best made British parts."

Rover is very smooth on the highway and hummer was like a tugboat. Both have an incredible 4x4 system
