Default HUMVEE Snorkel

I recently got my hands on a 1986 Humvee. I installed a military issue snorkel and when I started it up it idled rough and then stalled. I removed the snorkel and it ran fine. Any ideas on what's happening?

Stupid question, but is the metal screen on the mushroom cap clear of debris and if it has been painted make sure that the screen is breathable?

Thanks. Not a dumb question. It's clean as it can be though. When i get home from work I'll reinspect the air filter side of things. Maybe I'll find something there. I didn't try to run it without the mushroom cap at all, didn't have time, so I'll try that too.

Problem solved. After spending some more time on it I found the cap had been pushed too far down on the snorkel tube, restricting the air flow.

Right on. Glad you got it fixed!
