Paragon,

The kit you point out is NOT GM. This new kit is actually GM parts! The Digital Tuner Module looks just like factory installed units!

I think my SIRUIS Sat radio cost me about $100.00, installed.

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=86769&m=0

The receivers (I bought one for each car), were 100/ea with a 50 rebate/ea and the cradles were 50/ea.

Yes, very much so. The Pioneer kit has a 3rd party adapter (in this case made by PIE) which converts GM commands into Pioneer commands. These adapters have been very troublesome. Problems like losing presets, disrupting diagnostic testing with a GM Tech 2, etc.

I have gone ahead and ordered the GM kit. To be continued...

You're right the GM kit would be the way to go, keep us posted.

Klaus:

I gave the number 12498768 to the parts guy at the local dealer. He called someone at GM, who told him the part number was for a C/K pickup and that the software would be incompatbile with the radio software for the H2. Also, he could not find out if the part number was the whole kit or just the radio itself.

I figure you know more about it than they do. Have you researched the issue to determine that buying the part number will get "factory" XM in my '04 H2 without having to do anything more than drill a hole in the roof for the XM antenna?

The kit "officially" does not support the H2. However, I am confident that most, if not all of the parts will work. Remember, GM said the NAV unit was incompatible with the H2!

IMO, I don't think GM will come out with a kit just for the H2. Not enough demand.

The real news is that here is a kit that includes the GM Digital Tuner Module, a part which up to now has been unobtainable.

I have ordered the kit, so just hang on until I get it and attempt to install. I was in the process of doing this anyway, so between the kit and the parts I already have, I should be able to make it work. For example, I have the 2005 H2 roof antenna on order, so I should not have to drill a new hole - Just replace the antenna.

The main reason for my post was to let folks know that the 3rd party kits may no longer be the only option open to us.

To be continued...

Since the Digital Tuner Module uses a standard connector, you could choose to use an aftermarket magnetic mount antenna, which would keep you from having to drill a hole.

I don't think you need to drill a hole for a Sat antenna. The audio shop that did my Sirius install just ran the wire into the passenger side orange marker lamp and down through the front pillar.

I have to control my Sirius though, through a Kenwood remote panel mounted on the front of the sunroof controls.

Will this work on an '04 Nav unit?

Everyone please stand by! I just ordered the kit yesterday. Please give me a couple of weeks to get the kit and attempt to install it.

My main reason to post info about the kit was to let folks know that there *MAY* be a factory kit as opposed to aftermarket adapters which have been flakey.

This kit is NOT intended for the H2, but I believe it will work. In fact, I've put my money where my mouth is and ordered the kit myself. My truck will be the "test mule" - So there is no need for anyone here to risk their money on the kit until I give it a shot.

Hell yeah! UPS delivered it about 2 AM, and I completely installed it in 15 minutes!

It would have been done quicker, but I had to take pictures and write up the install docs!
