Hey guys, I was under the hood yesterday and noticed a piece of trapezoidal shaped foam padding/insulation on the passenger side just to the front of the wheel well (on the hood) (like 3" x 6"). It is on the passenger side of the hood, only. I had the service manager look under another new H2...same thing. Just curious! Why only one side...my dealer service manager said "don't ask me why"

I would guess that it helps keep slashing water away from the filter intake. I notice the dirt splash marks on your inner driver fender.

Black H2 Adventure Series+ all other options.

That was my first thought as well. Sounds realistic to me!

When we "drop" the hood on in the assembly process this is the bump point or alighnment corner. This cusion is really just there for the alignment of the hood. Once the swivel hinge pins are in it is no longer required.

Thanks HM:

That's a great reason as well!

But if you take off the hood to work on the engine, won't it be needed again?

Also, I have contemplated removing the hood for easier access to work under the hood, but it looks like it might be a multi-person/difficult job to take off/put back on??? Any comments?

The hood weighs 63 lbs. It would be best to use two people to remove it. If you are doing enginge work such as a supercharger it is required. It is not a big deal to remove it.
