alright i now have the normal black tow hooks, i would like the chrome ones. Should i just buy a new set of chrome hooks, or find a shop where you can dip the ones i have in chrome?? Was just wondering how the quality of dipped chrome is, has anyone done this and if so, are you happy about it?

First get a quote to have yours chromed. Most likely it will be cheaper to buy some that are already chromed due to the prep labor for removing the PC on your stock ones.

FYI, all chrome is "dipped process"

You might want to check ebay, I think I have seen some there.

Part of the reason its a high cost, is because your only doing a few parts. The more you do, drops the price. It doesn't seem worth it to me for that cost, but its your call.

chrome spray paint is cheaper and it looks just the same as the dip . . i sure would hate to slap a tow hook on one of the newly diped chrome D rings though .

Also make sure if you decide to purchase hooks they are functional ones... I've stumbled on a few places where the tow hooks were bright shiney pieces of aluminum... not designed or rated for anything but to look cool. I can't believe hardly that anyone would even consider putting something like that on their trucks... I could just see someone shackling up one of these and having them blow apart caving in someones head.

Methinks if you're looking for chrome hooks, you're not too worried about their function.

Intend to use them or not, someone that replaces rated tow hooks for useless bling is either soft in the head or just stupid. Either way its dangerous and irresponsible on so many levels I couldn't even begin to speculate. catgirl... don't try to save an extra few bucks on this item... if you are going to swap them out... get ones that work.

Just make sure to get stainless steel and NOT billet tow hooks. I heard of a guy who bought a used H2 that the previous owner had installed billet hooks. He comes across a small car in the ditch durning a snow storm and decides to len a hand with a tow strap. When the billet hook broke, it launched through the cars windshield, and almost took out the driver. Make sure to get one like RealWheels or any other company who uses stainless and rates them for the same capacity as factory.
