Default 100,000 miles!!

The 2005 SUT I bought new just turned 100,000 miles coming home from dinner with my wife last night. The only problems I've had were replacing the BCM module under warranty when the back window stopped working and the ignition switch replaced under warranty. I'm on my third set of tires, second interstate battery, had new brakes put on at 61,000, new muffler at 87,000, transmission/dif/transfer case fluids done at 50,000 and I change my oil every 5000 miles. The leather on the driver's seat is starting to show a little wear, however, I intend on keeping this vehicle a LONG TIME! I haven't reset the mpgs or gallons used since the second month I owned it and it shows 11.1 mpg, and 9032 gallons used. It's never burned more than a third of a quart of oil between oil changes.
Total engine hours are 2582 and it drives as well as when I first brought it home.

Great info, and congrats on your Hummer!

I'm looking at possibly selling and buying a higher mileage SUT, and some little sports car of some kind.

Good to hear your story

Congratulations! I've had good luck with my H2 so far, but it only has 49,000 miles on it. I change my oil a little more often though at 3000 mile intervals.

Congrats on 100k.

just a warning as you may or not know the trans cooler is inside the transmission and when they burst it'll trash your tranny and sometimes the radiator. i just had this happen to me a couple weeks ago at 92k miles. mine was under extended but if it wasnt it would burn a whole in your wallet. just something you might want to read up on.

I've had an external transmission cooler almost since this H2 was new. This is my third H2 (all bought new). I had one of the original H2s that everyone would gawk at when they first came out, and my wife had an 04 for a while. I'm probably one of the longest continuous owning H2 members on this forum. I've been through all the teething problems of the H2 and got to visit the plant several years ago in Mishawaka. Personally I like the external cooler because I tow and I've never seen the temperature exceed 150 on the gauge even towing in the mountains.

Default Re: 100,000 miles!!

2004 24,000 + got it after I retired. Retired because of health, I loved working. Never drove it out of town except for Hummer runs. Live in Phoenix area, Az. I thought the oil cooler maybe a warranty problem so never changed mine.

If some one would point me to the oil cooler mod that would be great.

I would like to build a functional hood vent. Place an oil cooler under it. Build it so close to the original hood vent look, that an untrained eye will not tell it from the original hood vent. Have looked for such a thing, no luck, except big hood vents, no thanks. I'm building a plasma table and have a milling machine... and lots of time. Welding Aluminum or mild steel is not a problem. Maybe an idea will pop into my head, it does happen sometimes.

This is a current picture of my Hummer, taken yesterday, Aug 20, 2011. That's my wife, she can weld as good as I. - Home projects: link below.

My wife drives a 2011 Prius.

The main page of my site has picture of my Hummer. That little climb in the picture, I had the front locker engaged, did not spin a wheel. No bing on my truck.

My Hummer has never been in the shop! Everything still working perfect. Only things I've added inside is sun roof, factory blue tooth, original console lid replaced with one that locks, a utility shelf on dash for radios, GPS.

According to site record, my last visit was April 2005, 6+ years ago. Amazingly I am still driving the same Hummer, longest I have stayed with any auto, everything is still the same, nothing added, except I had the stock wheels and rock panel painted all black few years ago, and I still got my black double wipers.

I just cracked 100k on my way to Niagara Falls. No major issues...but I'm a preventative maintenance junkie.

I just ran the numbers on your 9K gallons of fuel and yep, you've run in at an average 11.1 MPG for the entire 100K stretch!
That's a mind numbing amount of fuel when you let yourself think about it! At 42 gallons a barrel--could you have gotten a member discount with OPEC? BTW, that's 215 barrels!!!!

I just rolled over 120k this weekend. Nothing other than Hummer issues. Had the tranny issue at 71k. Got that changed. Windshield Fairing rattle just became apparent at 119k. Nothing Major. Onto 200k.......

MAC, awesome to see you post, it's been a long time indeed. I still remember the laughs I got reading posts about your life......and your gardener . This use to be such a fun board, lots of people and lots of activity. Such a shame things got so nasty and so many people quit posting. Amazing what a handfull of ignorant people can accomplish. I noticed H2 Finally posted as well. We had a great time on a run with SteveR from Victorville (I think) to Big Bear. Nice guy and a great family. Glad to see some of the "old timmers" are still around. I noticed I have a wopping 25 posts to date. Wonder what happened with that? Anyhoo, congrats on your high millage Hummer

Man! What happened here? Was there a fist fight or something? LOL!

Maybe we need to dump the email addies of all the members who haven't posted in the last six month into a "come on back, we've missed you" mass email to see if we can bump up participation? Just an idea...I like this forum, but participation does seem to be waning a bit.

I am just over 100k too. I am seeing all the gremlins in my truck too.

I am curious about this internal transcooler? is there a way to make it external and if so how?
I am not a big fan of shelling out money on stuff like this (things that when they break they take out tons of other things too), so I would like to do something to prevent this.
