Default New Steering Shaft and Gear Installed

Well, I received my 2nd Gen intermediate steering shaft and supposed redesigned planetary gear for the transfer case. The Dealership installed the new parts about a week ago. Just for a recap;

1. I was hearing a "clunk clunk" noise in the transfer case, so the dealership changed out the transfer case twice in the past and I still had the same noise. They stated that it was the planetary gear in the transfer case and that I would have to wait for the redesigned one from GM. I just had the new redesigned gear relaced by the factory a week ago and I am still hearing the same noise, it is a little bit lighter though.

2. I had a vibration issue in the gas and brake pedals and the sterring column would hop and shift at times while driving. GM put out a bulletin that there were problems on some H3 models with the Intermediate Steering shift and that the vehicle would exhibit these signs with increased driving and engine heat. Well, I had the steering shaft replaced a week ago with the new redesigned one from GM. I do not feel the hop and shift in the column anymore, but I do still feel the tap and vibration on the pedals. It seems like the new shaft numbed the feel a bit, but it is still there none the less. I will say that I replaced my factory wheels and tires about 6 months ago with the 305/55/20 Nitto Terra Grapplers and 20X10" Helo Maxx wheels. Maybe, I could be feeling this in the pedals because of the wheels and tires...not sure.

Does anyone have the same problems even after replacing the steering shaft with the new redesigned one? I am wondering if it is something else now. I do know that a couple guys here had theirs replaced and they had no more problems. And, has anyone had their planetary gear in the transfer case replaced recently because of issues that I stated earlier?

Had the steering column change out done. I think I still feel a very very slight feedback at times. Not really enough to be bothersome though. If it gets any worse I'll take it back.

Default Re: New Steering Shaft and Gear Installed

I had my steering shaft replaced about a month ago. I have not noticed anymore problems with it. I'd say it was completely fixed. I have not had any problems with the transfer case.
