from what the site says theoretically it should work. its a know fact that not all the gas burns within the combustion phase, and thats where mpg and hp is lost. So the problem is real.

But i dont know if the pill is real. they say its a catalyst that will help all the fuel burn on ignition. No way to say if it works till someone tries it. If its true that it works like they say, then you should see some gain, donno if it will be noticable though.

i would have thought that will all the money going into the fuel industry they would have thought of putting all sorts of chemicals and catalysts in there (which they do), so im a little suprised that the answer is a pill.

Sorry, these products don't work.

They admit ...

that modern fuels already burn at 99.5% efficiency and that their catalyst doesn't extract more energy or efficiency from the fuel.

Yet they claim ...

a 7-14% rise in fuel economy as well as a 30% increase in force at the piston during each downstroke, resulting in more "pep" and acceleration.

Their explanation?

An unknown substance bonds to all combustion chamber surfaces and then attracts a fuel catalyst. As the fuel ignites, the nano-layer catalyst changes the rate of combustion, sending a pressure wave toward the piston head with 30% more force.

The problems ...

1. The fuel filter. Does any of the catalyst and adhesion substrate actually make it to the combustion chamber?

2. Coatings are bad for engines. They clog injectors, foul spark plugs, and reduce tolerances between moving parts.

3. Chemical bonding is bad for engines. It takes a chemical reaction, usually with acidic and basic solutions, to bond substances to a metal surface. Acidic and basic solutions = damage.

4. They admit the coating isn't durable. It either wears off or burns off. Either way, it will take "bonded" metal with it, leaving pits and scars behind.

5. Combustion doesn't start at the walls. It starts at the spark plug and expands outward in a sphere. By the time it reaches the catalyst on the sides, the process is over ... it's too late to affect burn rate or efficiency.

Hmmm ... what do do?

very good points. but from what i understood of this about number 5 is that the coating is to keep the heat from going into the block instead staying in the cylinder where its needed, not that it will burn from teh walls.

just wanted to say what i thought they meant. but i agree that it most likely doesnt work, but i cant knock it till i've tried it, and im not gona try it for those reasons you said up top, so as a result i just cant knock it.

maybe it works more like a placebo for the car/truck, it thinks it can therefore it can.

If their coating significantly insulates the cylinder wall, I'd be very surprised. But I'd be even more surprised if this company actually knew more about combustion temps and rate-shaping than GM (or any other engine manufacturer).

You know, I rode the oil additive bandwagon a while back. (Yeah I know this one's a fuel additive.) Started with Slick-50 and moved "up" to Pro-long and a couple of others. I ended up with rough starts, noises (the bad kind), hesitation and less power from the damage I did to the engines in those cars. If I'd only spent that time and money on scheduled maintenance, they would have lasted longer and been more reliable in the end.

The more I learn, the more I trust the manufacturer. If an engine's inefficient, the problem is the design, and no additive will fix that.

Paid $3.23 for Chevron regular yesterday, a bargain. Glad the H3 gets reasonable mileage.

Very True..

I figure this way... The General has a Gaggle of top notch Engineers who probably drink alot of coffee and stay up late at night trying to make all this stuff work the best on the 3.

They beat the crap out of the vehicle and test everything and then test it some more even worse for the guys that go overboard. You've seen some of the things H3 drivers do to there rig's. Sink them in water, bury them in mud, slam them down on rocks Etc.

So ...to me your get-en a great ride that has already been tested for good performance. Sure..there's always room to improve the ride......
but after you lay your cash down..you should just enjoy driving your rig.

Spend the money for Bling and or Black accessories & winch's & UBP..enjoy life ..and play in the Mud like a kid...

Prices here in Europe typically run about 3 times USA price, so we are almost there ($10 per gallon) here in Germany.

here in mexico, the fuel prices are federally controlled, and they do not allow any competition.
the regular is pretty rough stuff with lots of impurities, but the premium is better. i can't even run the local regular in my '95 bronco, as it really struggles with that stuff.
premum fuel is about $8.4 pesos per liter here now, which translates to about US$3 per gallon. pretty good deal in my opinion, although the premium here is probably about the same as regular in the US.
we go through the fuel filters here though!!!
a few months back, i thought my h3 was starting to show signs of the head problem. i used injector cleaner additive for a few tanks and then replaced the fuel filter and now it runs fine. i now have 17,500 miles on it and this month marks 2 years owning it with no significant problems. still runs great and looks brand new. i am especially impressed with how well the interior has held up. still shows no sign of wear and smells brand new. btw it is my daily driver.
