Default Wheels painted or powdercoated?

Are our factory wheels painted and clear coated or are they powdercoated?

I'm going to get mine powdercoated in a few weeks and the dude doing it was asking that question.

Cool.

I know it would be cheaper to paint them but for $80 a wheel I know that it will last forever.

Powdercoating outlasts paint. Especially if you're wheelin'

Samurai too cold to wheel in the snow....lol

I'm putting a full coil suspension in my Samurai and it's taking forever. The bomb dogs are taking up alot of my time. I'll be lucky to have it done to go to Moab in May.

True.

How much is it going to cost you to paint your wheels?

No time for labor here. Easier to have it all done by a pro.

Where is the snow run? Not seeing it in "Events".

I used this in satin black. I put i think 2 or 3 coats of etching primer 3 coats of black and 2 of clear for gloss and extra protection. It came out looking almost like my black truck in color. No problems at all so far. Looks great. Very nice color. I also left the lip chrome. I bought blue painters tape and cut it out with a razor blade. Make sure you clean em really really good. I used simple green and then brake cleaner. I'll post pics when my camera is done chargeing. And it only cost me like 20 bucks. I did all 5. Took me 2 days cause i tested it on the spare the first day. I seriously think this is durable enough.

I'll chime in. I wanted black rims as well but pulled the trigger on chrome. While researching powder coated rims I discovered Teflon coated rims. They have a unique look and will stand up to rock chips and other things that scratch rims. The teflon coating is has greater durability over powder coatings. A little info for your consideration.

good luck.

Are you saying replace my rims with Teflon coated wheels are get mine Teflon coated?

I like the American Teflon coated wheels but the backspacing is an issue.

just paint em. I wouldve posted pictures of mine already but they're all coverd with mud and i dont feel like cleaning my car cause its cold. If you paint em for 20 bucks and it starts scratching or something in 2 years you can always have em powder coated or teflon or whatever later. It shouldnt be a problem. or go out and buy yourself a set of zinik z9's black with chrome lip and some nitto graplers. and use your other rims for offroading and winter but paint em black to.

lol or not this is just what i did. Im also waiting for my damn original tires to wear so i have an excuse to buy better ones.
