Just got it back from the dealer, and now it makes a whining, whirring, almost grinding noise when I hit the gas. I can only hear it inside the vehicle, it does it in nuetral, but I can't figure out what it is. It does seem to dissipate as the vehicle warms up, but does not go away. Considering a trip to the dealer today. Any advice?

Grinding noise...EEEEK! That can't be good.
Be on the safe side Adam, bring it in. It might bite you down the road. Biggest indicators of problems are usually assesed during a cold engine.

Adam,

Didn't you just have a lot of work done to the H2? Fluids changed, power steering pump replaced?

Could be the power steering pump...

Did they change the fluid in the transmission? Did they change the filter? Could be something wrong there...

Grinding noise is never good... Best to get it looked at soon.

I concur with everone. Head right back to the dealer! In fact when I left the dealer and heard that grinding noise I would have made a U-turn and went straight back.

Thank you, all. I took your adivce and went to the dealer this morning. It is the new power steering pump, and they said if it doesn't quiet down to a level I can tolerate (I am pretty picky) as it breaks in, that they would replace it again.

The did get me a new 1-way locking hitch pin to replace the drop in one for the winch. We also locked the keys inside, so they made me a 3rd key.

I had the same sound and it was my power steering pump to. I don't know why they put that pump in a truck like this.

They said most replacement GM AC/Delco power steering pumps make this noise.

Just thought I'd mention I had the same problem with the underbody protection. I had it off road once nothing serious and after a few days heard a terrible vibration or rattle when backing up or putting the trans. in reverse. I crawled underneath and sur enough my exhust was hitting the tube protection. I took it off and bent it back but still have no idea how I bent it. Any others have this problem...
