My brother is considering getting a H3 to replace his dakota v-8 p/u

I see that the GM discounts are not in effect on these due to the fact they are a 2006

Are the dealers dealing on these any one getting them close to invoice

we stopped at the local dealer and they had about 6 on the lot so I am sure they are not a hard to get vehicle.

I made the mistake of paying sticker for my 03 mach 1 and 5 months later they had a 4k rebate on them my bad. but I was the first one in the state to get one !

Is the new model hype over now for these trucks
and are the dealers not trying to gouge folks with "market ajustments"

also how is the power on these with the 5cyl motor's ?

Sewell in Dallas/Plano is selling the H3 at MSRP. That is the best price I have seen thus far.

No telling what the prices will be like in 4-6 months. The H2s actually went UP in price their first year (a few times, as I recall), so who knows?

Right now unless you can get the supplier discount, you are going to pay MSRP or maybe a few hundred below at best. There are still dealers marking them up and there are still plenty of us waiting on ours to come in so the hype is not over yet. I think as more hit the road and people see them, there will be more people headed to the dealer to get one. As far as power goes, it depends on where you drive and how you like to drive. I have only spend 10-15 minutes behind the wheel of one and it felt find to me coming from a V8 SUV. If he is concerned about it, tell him to rent one for a day or two and see if it is a problem. If he waits, there is bound to be discounts down the line but if he wants to play now, he is going to have to pay.

I just traded in my 98 Dakota with 5.2 V8 for the H3. I definitely noticed a difference in power but after driving it for a couple weeks I'm used to it. I figure I should even save some money on gas and tires. I haven't had a chance to tow anything or go offroad yet though.

And I paid right around MSRP. The dealer I went to (Silicon Valley in Los Gatos, CA) was trying to add a $5k markup. No way were they going under MSRP.

GM employees can get GMS, which is the GM employee discount and stands for GM-Stock. I have heard some dealers are offering GMID and GM Supplier Discounts. GMID (GM In the Driveway) is a discount offered by any GM employee to anyone who is not eligible for a GMS discount, and it equates to a GM Supplier Discount (about 2% over MSRP; whereas a GMS is about 2% below MSRP).
GM employees are allocated two GMID authorization numbers per month. However, a dealer has the right to refuse or accept any GMS, GMID or Preferred Supplier Discount.

2% over MSRP? That isn't a deal. Is it 2% over invoice or something like that?

Correct, I had MSRP on the mind. GMID/Supplier is 2 percent over invoice, GMS is about 2 percent under. My error, good catch.

well we dont know any one that is a former of current gm employee

WE just went and got a ford five hundred for my dad and used a neighbors pin for z plan

he got a 29k car for about 24k including tax
his trade in was only 800 buck credit so that was a nice chunk off the sticker

so we are going to attempt to go it the old fashion way of just trying to see if they dicker

Thanks fstop. Does anyone know what the models are invoicing at, ie. base, adventure, lux before adding any of the other features. Just so I have a somewhat rough idea.

Hey guys, there are no discounts on H3's that for sure. I paid sticker price, there was no wheeling and dealing, because they can't keep these things in stock. So, what I did was I got a free license plate bracket for free, and I bought Bling chrome accessories, to include Chrome hood handles, and my dealer put everything on for free, no charges for service,
Waiting for my top lamps, So even though I paid sticker price, I thought it was a good deal to get all this extra service for free.,
jk1165, later...

Many dealers are offering to accept GMID/Supplier and even GMS. Dealers in the Detroit Metro area have quite a few H3s sitting on their lots. I guess it depends on your area.

White's Mountain Hummer in Casper, WY will sell you an H3 for $400 below MSRP by printing out and bringing in a coupon off their website.

Compared to everyone else, $400 off is a good deal unless you can get GMID or GMS discounts.

I was just able to order my H3 at GMS rates, which they say will save about $3500 - $4000 off my particular sticker...glad my son is a GMAC employee!!! I would still buy one at MSRP if I had to - after my test drive...it is definitely worth it!

Sewie,

The same dealer tried to get me to pay $2K markup and $900 for 'Autobaron'.
I told them to stuff both and ended up with MSRP
