Default Blower Motor.

You might remember that a few months back I was the one that found the mouse / rat nest in my blower motor.

well turned on the blower the other day and the whirring noise took me back, well at least I know what it is now...

The Little bastards are back...so my question is: does anyone know where the intake is? picture please?

i have looked but cant see where it is...I was going to put a piece of mesh / fine chicken wire over the inlet to stop this happening.

Probably one for the techs unless someone else know where it is.

the intake must be pretty large as the are taking twigs and my battery cover in there to snuggle donw with.

help would be great guys.

thanks

You should also consider eliminating your rodent problem.... get some spring/snap mouse traps and place them around where you park your vehicle, I have a detached garage and constantly have mice getting in. I use those traps with a little peanut butter as bait and usually once a week I find a mouse in one of my traps (I keep one in every corner of my garage. When I first moved in 4 years ago there were tons of them, I was getting 1-2 per day for a couple of weeks.

It wont take you long to rid yourself of the problem.

Bought two today to see if I can catch it /them....thing is I am not sure if it is a mouse or a rat... will soon find out in the morning..... think it will be a mouse, I have seen one or two in the last year.

going to put some bait out around the property any way.

but if anyone has a picture of the blower box to see where they could be getting in it would be great.

thanks

Ok he set off one of the traps then took a crap all over it.... seems as if he is flipping me the bird at this point.

Question... since no one seems to know where the air intake is for the heater blower can and does it have a cabin filter.

some people say yes there is some say no there isn't.

h2 2005 is what I have... if I could find the cabin filter or air intake entry I can put something over it to block the mice but not the air.

so is there a cabin filter?

thanks....

ok answering these myself I think... there is no cabin filter... saw an old post where the guy had one but being a 2005 nothing there... looks plastic welded.

so back to base point.... need to locate the air intake for the heater box.... has anyone any idea?

I am guessing here but have you looked in the same area as where the air filter gets it's air from, the passenger side fender ?

stripped all that out today including the full panel from end to end below the windshield were the wiper arms are.

new bait tonight.... they seem to be eating the green pellets from the wedge things I bought from lowes to get rid of mice... so I reset the traps and put the bait in and around the trap.

so hopefully i get the bugger.... think i need to buy a service/workshop manual and see if it can tell me where it is... even if I saw the heater box it would give me an idea where the inlet is.

then i can fabricate something to stop this happening again.

OK guys I found the inlet and it is right on top of the motor..the little ****s are coming up the wheel well and (if you look under the hood to the left side of the washer bottle) there is a square end which is open straight into the front firewall)

Removed the complete top panel (the panel thats goes end to end below the windshield). Once removed there is a black cover which goes over the motor.

Full of branches and twigs... now that being said teh cover doesnt ahve a hole in it !!!

so there is till a little mystery as yet.
they have been eating the joint sealer as I can see that scraped away.

will take some pictures and see if I can post them.

because no doubt someone else will have the problem.

updates soon.

CONCLUSION !!!!

hopefully the pictures turn out.

found the problem, found how they were getting in... turns out there is nothing to stop them going right into the motor.

my fix .... made a wire mesh cage/ cover. covered the intake hole for fan and the two water drains from the landing panel.....

water can still get out... i used a 1/4 mesh from Home depot.

hope it helps.

GLad you won the war!! I am supprised there is no cover/guard at all over the motor. I may make one and put it on mine just because. Hate for a small stick or leaves or something to end up in there. Also supprised there is no cabin air filter. Mine is a 2005 also.

I wanted to reach out and say thank you for your detailed description and pictures of the mouse nest in your blower on your H2. I had the same issue on my 2005 H2 and was about to get the blower replaced until I saw your post. Once I saw your pictures I knew that crazy vibration had to be a mouse. Low and behold there was a mouse that had the fastest hamster wheel ride of his life. He was stuck in the fins on one side which is why it was so off balance.

With your pictures I had the job done in 1 hour.

Thanks so much!!!!
