Angry Bad head

My 06 H3 has 7,000 miles on it. Just got back from a road trip from Las Vegas to Boise. I cruised on the highway the whole time, doing 75-80. I got back into Las Vegas and got off the freeway. As soon as I came to a stop light it started idling rough and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and it's a blown head. I know the early 2006s had head problems, but I bought mine in June. I'm not too happy.

That sucks! Any other indications there was a problem before the bit of rough idling and the light coming on?

I'm an early build too, and am patiently waiting for the light to come on. I hope it doesn't happen - but it sounds like it's happening to a lot of rigs.

Keep us posted on how the fix goes and if they extend the warranty for you.

Good luck!

Bring on that V8, it sounds like the I 5 is becoming a liability.

Yea, that sux. Mine is a Sept 05 build. Sat on the lot for a while. I have 14.5K miles on her. No head probs yet, but I am braced for it if it happens. Good luck. Fix under warrenty and then you should (hopefully) be good to go.

One thing I have learned in almost 60 years.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD HEAD

Don't wait for it to happen, because it might not happen. This is not a new problem and can happen on early model vehicles. Plenty of threads on this forum that mention this head problem.

I'm told you should be able to tell the H3's that were prone to bad heads
by where the "GM" emblem is located ... The H3's having the GM logo behind
the H3 logo on the door were early production models, and were having to
have the heads replaced ... Later models have it on the fenders ... This is
not an absolute, but something to watch for

Yes, it is lame, because it is incorrect. For 06 models, the GM logo is next to the H3 emblem. For 07 models, the logo is move to the rear of the front fender.
NOT ALL 06 models have this problem, in fact, engines built after March 31, will not have this problem, unless a one out of a million. Those engines built before March 31 could have this problem, but are not guaranteed to have the problem.
