Default Removing the Bose amp and OnStar...questions.

I'm seeking direction regarding the Bose system in an '05 H2. The vehicle came equipped with factory touch-screen NAV and the premium Bose sound system.

Since purchasing the vehicle I've replaced the factory NAV with a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 using the PAC device to interface with the factory wiring harness and maintain OnStar functionality.

NOW, I'm planning on removing the AVIC and installing a CarPC. I realize that I can probably connect the CarPC's audio out to the PAC unit and be done with it, BUT I'm entertaining the idea of replacing the Bose amp. Also...I will be removing the OnStar system and antenna.

WHY replace the Bose amp? Well...1. the PAC controller generates a very light whine through the speakers that changes pitch with the engine RPMs (this is apparently a known problem with the PAC controllers...not related to a 'ground loop'...according to Crutchfield), and 2. the rear speakers do not output at the same level as the front speakers unless you make pretty drastic adjustments to the Fader level (this too is a reported problem when using an aftermarket system with the Bose amp...according to Crutchfield). While neither of these problems have been reason enough for me to crack open the console an start pulling the amp out, I figured with the install of the CarPC this would be an ideal time to 'make it happen.'

WHY remove the OnStar...I've never used it. I don't need it. I will be replacing the factory roof-mounted antenna with a cellular/GPS/wifi antenna (http://store.mp3car.com/Roof_top_GPS...p/com-008.htm).

MY QUESTION(S):

1. If I replace the Bose amp do I also have to replace the Bose speakers? In previous cars I've ran into this problem due to the proprietary design of the Bose systems...I don't know if that is the case now-a-days.

2. Could someone provide me with a pinout of the wiring harnesses coming out of the Bose amp or direction to where a suitable adapter could be obtained to interface this end of the factory wiring harness with an aftermarket amp (I really don't want to re-run speaker wire to all the speaker locations...I would rather use the factory wiring.).

3. Regarding removing the OnStar unit...is there anything I should be concerned about (I realize that I will no longer have my factory door chime...I'll cope).

Thanks in advance.

I wish someone will help with this question too since I would like to gut the Bose system out of ours too.

If I find out anything through Cruchfield I will let you know.
