Mirrors - Chrome to Black and Back Again

I have been working on "blacking out" my H2 a bit at a time and I found that the mirrors were the hardest part of the equation. Sure you could drop 500 bucks buying new ones but that is just downright idiotic in my book. Anyways, I posted a WTB here in the classifieds and another H2 owner is looking to add the chrome fixtures to his Adventure model. He informed me that we could just switch the mirror caps instead of the entire mirror. Below are pics that I hope will help some of you. Even if you can't find someone to trade with, this makes painting them black much easier than removing the entire unit.

You can use a flat blade screw driver to "pop" them off. They are held on with doubled sided tape and about five little clips. Working around the edge will eventually pull the cap off. I broke one of the clips removing it, but the clip will still function fine, so just take your time. I hope this helps some of you guys when trying to do cutom mirrors.

Also, if you are looking on going the chrome route, a couple of folks I have talked to have used this guy in Texas to get some non-traditional items "chromed". Funkey stuff at Spray Chrome
