I am in need of some intake help. I am looking to buy one within the next 2 weeks and have some questions.
1.What are the Pro's and Cons of replacing the intake.
2.What is the best one? I have been looking at Air raid and AEM Brute Force.
3.I am also putting on 37x12.50x17 BF All-Terain's the first week in April and wanted to have the intake installed. Will this help with the accelration when I mount the 37's?

Thanks guys and I look forward to your input.

GM frowns on the aftermarket intakes. There is a TSB about voiding the warranty on any engine damaged by water ingestion with an aftermarket airbox installed.

Also, there is another TSB that relates to drivability problems with aftermarket air filters and oil from them causing problems with the mass airflow sensor.

I don't recommend changing to an aftermarket filter or airbox. But, if you just have to have one, keep in mind the pitfalls and fights you may have with GM. Only you can decide if it is worth it to you.

Klaus, thanks for the input. Is there any good things that I can weigh these against to help make my decision? I would like to hear from somebody with one installed?
Klaus, what do you recommend to give me some better acceleration? I find my H2 doesn't have the get up and go I would like it to have. I do not want a supercharger any ideas? Also like I said I will be adding 37x12.50x17 bf's soon and would like to do something before then.

Thanks

If you are going to change the tire size, you're going to need a programmer to fix the speedometer error.

The nice thing about the programmers is that you can change the programming back to stock easily.

Here is a link to several programmers for the H2:

I have the DiabloSport Predator Flash Tuner:

Hi Klaus, I have the Volant air box and it is sealed very well except for the top hatch to get to the filter. And yes you have to use the oil on the filter carefully or you coat the MAS with oil. I was thinking of putting the stock system back in with a airaid filter in lieu of the stock paper. I like the sealed aspect better.

I replaced the stock filter with the Airaid filter, K&N didn't have a model out at the time. I kept the stock air box but replaced the Mass Air Flow sensor with the Granatelli and also installed the Modular Intake Tube.

Personally I think there is something in the programming of the stock throttle that makes a difference. I also own a XL Denali that has the same engine and weighs about the same, but the throttle response on the Denali is much better. The throttle is eletronic and not linkage and I believe there has to be some difference between the two that effects the throttle response. BTW the Denali runs 3.73 gears and the H2 has 4.10.

Klaus, I read the link but saw nothing on adjusting for tire size difference? Also what will the difference be on the speedomoter? I saw APEX IV ran the same type tires I am getting. APEX IV any info good or bad about these tires?
I will be installing 37x12.50x17 BF All-terrain KO's they look like the stock tires but fill the wheel well a little better

Prplprowlr,

The manual for the Predator Programmer can be downloaded here:

http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/pdf/manual27.pdf

Look for the "Actual Wheel Size" setting.

According to the math, changing from 35" to 37" tires will result in the speedometer showing your speed 5% slower than you are actually running. When the speedometer shows 80, you would actually be running 84.
