Other than the fact that it it illegal to burn red dyed fuel in a truck that runs on public streets... Its the same stuff you get from the pump at the gas station... it just has red dye in it.

The purpose of the red dye is to designate it as off-road fuel... and as such, it is not taxed and costs about 50% less.

I would burn it without a second thought.

Except for maybe the last 20-30 gallons left in the tank. The bottom of the tank is where the crap collects.

Summary: Its illegal to use it on the road, I would be shocked if anyone would catch you, and will work just fine.

Keep a copy of this article in your truck for at least the next few months.

http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=148123,00.html

And this one:
http://www.epa.gov/katrina/faqs.htm#11

It will save you in the off chance you get inspected. Since you drive a Class III truck AND you live in the People's Republic of Kaleefornia, you might get pulled over, but the risk is very, very low.

No problem. This will give truck inspectors fits for months. It takes about 20 or so complete flushes along with constant fuel filter changes to get rid of all the red dye.

The equipment they use for testing is sensitive enough to register minute amounts. So, keeping the papers in your truck (IIRC, the fuel depots have until December to rid their tanks of Ruby Red, then that flows to the retail pumps....) is a good idea for a while.

Willie Nelson Named To Board Of Jackson Biodiesel Firm

POSTED: 1:44 pm CST November 10, 2005
UPDATED: 2:36 pm CST November 10, 2005

JACKSON, Miss. -- Country music star Willie Nelson in a corporate boardroom in Mississippi.

It might sound a little odd -- but biodiesel manufacturer Earth Biofuels Inc. in Jackson announced Thursday it has appointed Nelson to its board of directors.

Nelson is strong advocate of clean-burning biodiesel. The country music star said he's anxious to get started at his new job.

Company chief executive Tommy Johnson called Nelson a supporter of biodiesel fuel who is very knowledgeable about the industry.

The company currently produces about 2 million gallons of biodiesel at a facility in Meridian. Construction is under way on a larger plant in Durant, Okla.

Nelson and three business partners recently formed a company called Willie Nelson's Biodiesel that is marketing the fuel to truck stops.

The product -- called BioWillie -- is made from vegetable oils, mainly soybeans, and can be burned without modification to diesel engines.
