Nope, it won't fit. Also, beware of photoshop edited pictures!

I've got an '04 that came with the cd changer radio. Can it be replaced with the '04 factory nav system??

I'm sure it could be done. However, there was a change in the middle of the 2004 model year production from a Class 2 amp to a non-class 2 amp.

GM now makes both LUX (Bose), and NON-LUX (non-Bose?) navigation head units. As far as I know, all 2003s have the LUX class 2 amp. So you 2004 guys have an additional twist to consider.

Here is a link to a good thread the Chevy Avalanche Forum:

I wonder if we'll be able to convert the 05 nav with xm to fit in an 03. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

GM's XM Radio is really just a separate tuner box mounted under the dash. It uses the same wiring circuits that the 6 Disc CDX changer uses. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I am working on it... Gathering parts now. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

What did you do with your old radio. It was the 6 disc stock model right?

Are you interested in selling it? I have a rare base model H2 with a single disc changer. :P

Yes, my original radio is an IDX 6 CD Changer. I guess I should go ahead and sell it. What do you think is a fair price? Keep in mind that it is VIN locked to my truck, so you would have to make a trip to the dealer to get it unlocked.

Klaus,

what did you do with your onstar since you have the seperate 6 disc changer and was it hard to add the 6 disc changer? What was involved??
Thanks

prplprowlr,

I disconnected and removed the Onstar. It wasn't worth the trouble for me.

Installing the 6 CD Changer involved soldering and adding additional wiring to the factory head unit connectors. Also, a "brace" for the Onstar module had to be cut out from the dash opening. A Dremel and a pair of large pliers took care of it.
