Hey all H3ers,

Thanks for the warm welcome that you gave me for joining this forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable and responsible owners here and I am glad that I've joined this forum to discuss H3 topics about upgrades and offroading. I am also glad that the members on of this forum give respect to the other members and that they are not just here to bully around and pump up their HUMMER ego. Actually, there is one guy I've encountered already after just a few days here. paragon? From his posting, he has a H2 SUT and let me tell you, he talks with an ego. All I did was respond to a question about ground clearance vs undercarrage protection and what I thought about it. It's an opinion and just that. Well Paragon responded and was kinda irritating. Threads can get out hand, once you've been on this thing long enough you will see such rediculousness to be almost unbelievable. This actually has been discussed before in other threads. I've gotten offended just as I think everyone here has. Its the culture of the forum. You just can't take it personally, the information is invaluable, but its not for the thinned skinned. Alot of people follow this forum pretty close, alot of them know what they are doing... so in the entrest of those that don't know so much... if someone has a counter argument it gets raised which I'm personal glad of, you see both sides of a thought and formulate your own opinion. Sometimes they are in tone 'mean spirited' but those that are at heart out to just be offensive and mean don't stay long.

You're gonna get a lot of "just go somewhere else then" and X2, X3, X4, repost whining, and stuff, you just have to wade through it because there's really some good stuff on here that's the dealer doesn't know and that you won't get by reading magazines. Some of 'em really don't want to read anything, or learn anything new, they're just here for the entertainment. This forum's definitely not for the thin skinned or those not willing to suffer foolishness. Just bring your sifter, let it ride. Most of 'em (I say most) take as good as they give!

I'm not an expert on hypocrisy, but let me get this straight:

In the other post:

(1) You stated your opinions; then

(2) Two long-time forum members disagreed with a couple of those opinoin using no profanity and fairly reasonably; then

(3) You launched into an insluting tirade (a) calling one of them an "A55" (we don't know which one really because you are confused about who's who); (b) belittled one guy for owning another guy's truck; (c) belittled a forum member for having work done on his vehicle by someone else (something about which you are completely guessing and, anyway, who cares) (d) belittled all H2 owners for owning expensive, fuel inefficient vehicles (please leave and join the Green Party forum or something); (e) acted arrogant yourself (e.g., "I do it myself and it's done right the first time"); (f) generally talked in a condescending tone (e.g., "just stick to your cobblestone trails" and "What was that you said earlier, 'Fat, dumb and happy'" (and getting the author wrong to boot); and (g) misstated the spec side slope max as "40 degrees" while futilely trying to make another guy sound stupid.

Woody,I understnd completely. I help run a football talk forum for The GB Packers and there are only a few rules there. No Personal Attacks, no "n", "c", or"f" words. After all kids can get on these sites as easily as adults....some do not think about that before they post.

Unfortuently some people treat forums like their own personal lockerroom and others think that since they have been around longer somehow their posts hold more wieght and are more legitimate.

I think that everyone should be equal here and the forum shoud not be hijacked by the people who think they are the authority.

But instead I just try to get along and am looking forward to meeting a lot of people here...most of them seem pretty decent even Paragon...really.

The knowledge and help you can get here is very good. I wouldn't let your own irritations be a judgement on the rest of the forum. If you do others will pile on...as you may have noticed.

As far as personal attacks and people calling you stupid etc...well, it is uncalled for and an easy way out for those who do it. Instead they could try to help you with your issue.

The bottom line is that there is no moderation even though it is needed. If the site wants to grow into being the site everyone goes to for Hummer info, they need a few rules. #1 is no personal attacks...pretty simple really. Open debate is fine but to attack someone because they have a prob with someone else is not fair. Then to pile on is uncalled for.

There are a number of people here who have become friends and obviously protect eachother. There are also others here who are n nonsense and really do want to help you if you have questions. There are actually GM employees here who build the H3 and other very qualified mechanics who can help with a lot of different things.

Soooooo, a thick skin is required and remember that the reason people get mad at eachother is usually because of a misunderstanding, i doubt too many people intentionally try to piss eachother off. If someone gets mad instead of debating...well that is immature. If you think people overreacted to your thread then maybe you were the one who took Paragons points to much to heart in the first place...I don't know, I didn't read the initial thread, or even most of this one.

Don't pass judgement on the forum yet...you can get a lot of good info here. Pu tit behind you and move on.

Sorry, but that was just so far off the mark it is pathetic. Not bashing you or calling you pathetic so don't call this a personal attack. As said so well before, this is a community that continues to grow. There are more quality posts on this site everyday than all the posts on all the other Hummer forums combined. Notice I said quality posts. I am not talking about the BS posts or just plan playing around, I am talking about quality info. I came here almost a year ago to find info on the H3 after I placed my order and found out the dealer didn't know anything. I agree that there is good info here and have said as much.

I also think it is fine that this is a community...I have met many people from the other site I help run and have become friends with many of them over the years. But the way we deal with the "off topic suff" is by having a seperate area for smack. For example, the People who really want to talk about the team have an area to do that. Those who want to talk about other things and bitch slap eachotehr go to a diffeent part o fthe forum...works great there. That site had over 2000 members before we udgraded the sofware and booted out the ones who hadn't posted for a long time...it is building up again.

Anyway. I realize there are a lot of ways to have fun on different forums. I am not one who thinks it is fun to bash the newbies or the less informed.However, some people just plain deserve it as well. I guess that is why I am a moderator over there.

But this is not my site and I will keep coming here for the info. I am also sure I will get along great in a social setting with most here when we meet. I jsut come off as a little reserved online.......becaseu I don't want my mommy to wash my mouth out with soap.

I stopped posting anything related to technical subjects long ago.

I quit wasting my time because the post usually got ruined by some feud not related to the subect at hand, or by adolecent pictures not related to the subject at hand.

We have been building race cars and modifying vehicles for 30 years, are an ASE Master Tech Certified Shop, have never had a call back on the work we do, etc. Our repeat clients just keep referring others. We have a two month backlog, with people coming as far away as WI and MI for our work.

The tech advice on here is usually baised towards the part/kit the reader bought and is only sometimes based in fact.

Guys here blow up engines, break tie rods, ruin rear ends, buy the wrong wheel/tire combos, install the wrong brakes for the wrong reasons, etc----what do I get called? An old fart or something else degrading---f.uk em, let them keep spending money that it not necessary. In a blind kingdom, a one eyed man is King. There are a lot of Kings on here.

Many on here have been to my shop and raved about the work--it does not stop others on here from blasting my posts--just because they have nothing better to do and need to impress their friends.

Good point sfox about the buying and selling---I was just making a general post about why I stopped posting tech info on here.

Since we sell anything and everything related to Hummers, I never need to push a particular point of view for a sale.

In fact, the selling part of my business is not why I joined this forum years ago. If I wanted to just sell things on here, I would pay Jason to have an ad. We make most of our money leasing out tricked Hummers to corporations.

I learned a lot on here in the past---it seems like lately, the substance of this forum has gone down hill and the new guys get blasted just for being new.

All forums have adolecents on them, it just seems to me that it has escalated on here to the point of annoyance.

I don't really care about the blasting personally---it doesn't hurt me a bit financially or otherwise. My sources of income do not depend on this forum.

The new guys need a break though--they are asking to learn things and some people on here just shut them down. Yea, it it a forum and you have to be tough on forums--but really, the culture on here has gone way down since I joined.
