First of, YMMV.
I have not tried this but I thought if we electronic engineers on this board they might be interested.

Surfing the web, trying to find how to make use of the GPS that's build into the OnStar system I found this: http://members.cox.net/onstar/

Might be worth a shot.

I think I'll try this as soon as I get a chance. I have been very seriously looking into installing a tablet pc instead of an LCD screen, this would be a great combo!

It would be interesting to see how they mounted the laptop. adventure accessories (http://www.adventureaccessories.com/acc.pics.h2/interior/dvd.pana.700.jpg)
Also, does anyone know where the GPS unit is located in the H2?

I found this post very interesting. Technology is very interesting but can be dangerous if modifications are attempted by those without the experience needed. On-Star does have this module in the hummer, but I highly reccommend leaving it alone, unless you are familiar with the design. They have used several variations of this module the last several years. Even if you are successful with the modification, the integration to the PC is somewhat demanding, unless you are a Microsoft wiz! When you figure in the amount of time and aggravation, it is probably easier and more efficient to purchase a GPS from a local vendor that can offer you support. I personally installed a Garmin Street Pilot III in my H2 and love it. Added benefit, I can give to my wife to use and also use it on my bike. And the most important point is guys will never have to ask for directions or get lost again! Jay
