Looks good but what if you do not have the spare on the inside. Will it still stay in the mounting area?

AngUPS, Couple questions for ya since they used your H2 for the prototype you might have the "inside scoop". Any plans of them making one for both sides? Will there be a chance of just buying the "housing"? Is it ported or seal? What is the inside cubic foot?

I have a dual 12" sealed box setting in the back and would like to get the space back that it takes up. I have been looking for coustom set up all over the internet for the H2 and so far have only seen the one that goes under the rear seat and it only holds two 10" subs.

Thanks

What kind of amp do you have to power these subs, and did it cost alot to hook up from the stock system?
I've been told that the parts alone would be around $175, just because it is a bose system and you don't want to cut any wires or confuse the bose setup.

Thanks,

Awesome!
What's the price and where can I order 1?
I can't find how to order it on the JL audio site.

Easy,
I do not think one will be made for the other side, but believe me when I say one will be more than enough. JL Audio only sells to installers that sell their product; you would have to check with them as to the availability of the housing by itself. As to your other two questions you will have to also check with an installer. The JL site has a search for them by zip code. It sounds great and I am very happy with the results.

Ric-H2,
I have a JL Audio 500-1 amp installed. The installation was done at a local shop and cost $125. They ran it directly into the Bose sub so I now have both working at the same time.

I have been trying to come up with a way to put speakers in mine. I currently have 2 solobaric 10's (can't remember which but they were top of the line a year ago) and a 1,000 watt kicker amp.

I like that idea for not taking up any space in the rear however I see it holds a 12 inch sub so that kind of kills me. That actually gives me an idea to build my own boxes for there. Project time!

I wouldn't need an installer because I already have a sub installed. All I have to do is switch the wires. I will contact them but if you have any insiders over there that could hook me up let me know!
Thanks!

AngUPS,

Looks good. A few questions... What type of modifications to the spare tire carrier had to be made? Are there any vibrations or rattles with it mounted behind the spare? Do you have any photos other than the ones from the JL site? I like the idea of you keeping the Bose sub as well. I had an enclosure in the back with a 12" sub, while taking out the Bose sub... it didn't seem to have enough bass in the front with it missing.

Thanks,
Judson

Estimated $ for Stealth?

AngUPS
01-21-2004, 09:25 PM
JDN17 and bwm,
They had to move it forward about 1/3 of an inch so they had to re drill the existing hole to reposition, then they added a new spacer that was 1/3 of an inch wider. Very minor adjustments. There is no rattle because the box is mounted right into the wheel well itself. I will add some pictures within the next week. As for the cost I am not sure, since it was a prototype there was a swap of the use of my H2 for the box. I paid an installer $100 for the installation of the amp and the box. JL audio is one if not the top of the line speakers so I am sure it will not be cheap. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

It is not worth that kind of money you can make a removable box with 2 JL 12's for about $450

Is the box Ported (has a hole) or Sealed (no hole)? I'm not trying to be a smartass but you didn't answer the question earlier.

I got quotes from 2 local dealers. The box is $749. They recommend the JL 500 amp that is about $450-500. Also have labor, wires, audio converter to tie into Bose system, etc. They total quote was $1500-1600. I they also said the box would not be available for a few weeks.

I plan to get one right away. That speaker in it is a monster.

AngUPS

Sorry Longhorn,
The box is sealed.

Longhorn
01-24-2004, 12:17 AM
Perfect, a sealed box is what I want. They aren't as efficient, but they produce much more tight accurate sound.

Now I need to find an interior tire mount. I think the dealership kept mine when they put on the rear carrier.

Thanks

LonghornRockcrawler,
You don't need the tire mount, it's just there to show that you can have it or not. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what driver they are using with the Stealthbox, but you could not get two 12" W7's at anywhere close to that price.

I have a single 12W7 and it sounds awesome. Probably the equivalent of 2 of the older series 12" subs.

You are right ZYX I am basing it on wholesale price for W6v2's which the box has one of but retail for a box with 2 w6 would be around $850

I have decided to do some upgrades since mine was broken into and the video system stolen. I am changing the complete system. I was sold the JL stealth box for $599 and it is being powered be a JL Audio 500/1 amp. With all the equipment being installed I will have it back next week.

Black H2 Adventure Series + Luxury, AirForce One intake, Throttle Body Bypass, Gobi Rack w/2" Brackets & 4 PIAA 580 Lights, Xenarc HID, Alcoa Wheels, Goodyear 37x12.50x17 MT/R, Warn 9.5Ti Thermometric Winch, DiabloSport programmer,160 Degree T-Stat, B&B Headers and exhaust, 2-7" screens in headrests with DVD player and TV Tuner.

I'm getting the same setup installed at my local Tweeter on 3/6...the JL Stealthbox and the JL 500/1 amp...total was like $1600-something for everything, but I think it'll sound great and I'll get to keep all the cargo area. That's all I'm looking for! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I look up the stealthbox on JL Audio's web site and it looks like they changed the speaker to a W6 instead of the W7. While the W6 is a good sub, it is not in the same league as the W7

JL Audios first press release said the stealthbox came with a W7 12" subwoofer, the enclosure size might have been too small for the W7 and they decided to change it. I think either way it's going to sound great. Let us know how it sounds. I will probably install this in my H2 as well.

Over the weekend I had my JL Stealthbox and a JL 500/1 amp installed...way more bass than I could've ever wanted. It does come with a 12W6 and even at low power the bass in incredible from the thing. Best of all, I have full use of all the cargo space, minus of course the left pocket in the back where the Stealthbox actually is.

ChuckTu,

Congrats on the Stealthbox! Any pix? Also, you mentioned that there was way more bass than you could've ever wanted... is it too overpowering relative to the other speakers up front? Did you leave the stock Bose subwoofer connected?

Thanks,
JDN17

No pics as of yet...gonna wait till I can get everything clean then take a whole bunch, inside and out. Rest assured it looks great though. It is definitely not too overpowering relative to the stock speakers, it just takes some getting used to when all you've had is the stock Bose subwoofer. I've had the opportunity to really crank it up over the last couple days and it sounds great. Speaking of the Bose sub, yes they did leave that connected, although I'm sure it would be very unnoticiable if it was disconnected.

I am extremely pleased with mine I actually took the entire BOSE system out. I have a JL 500/1 to the stealth box and a 300/2 to the front row and an aditional 300/2 to the second row. It is extremely powerful and a great addition. The W7 would not fit in the box. The box is not deep enough. The W6 works great..
