View Full Version : NO FRONT LEG ROOM "Help"

I'm 6'1 and have less than a 1/2 inch between my knees and the front dash of my 2003 H2. I've called the dealer and he said they didn't have a fix to move the seat further back. I wanted to purchase new rails, or extended rails to accommodate my legs. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? I was in a new Nissan Altima yesterday and my legs were fully extended when the seat was all the way back. Again, I'm only 6'1". Others must have the same problem.

I'm 6'2" 215lbs and I've got tons of room. Are you long-legged or are you super bottom heavy and being pushed further forward because of a mountainous behind?

CraigFRNJ

I'm 6'1 180lbs. When I sit my legs are at a 90 degree angle when touching the pedals. GM recognizes this problem and has installed seats in the 2004 model that go back 3 inches further. Your Dry Humor exploits your ignorance "GURU"

You can't swap for the 2004 seats? Or do you have a 2004 and it's still not enough?

I'm 6'4" and my knees touch my chin(s). Im glad the new guy brought this up. These seats are way to close to the dash. BTW....what are those buttons on the side of the seat for anyway? Anyone??? Anyone???

Somebody, I do not remember who, relocated their seat tracks 3" back on their '03. Said it was very simple. BTW, I am about 6'4", 240lbs and have no problems with the seat reclined a bit.

My problem is my seat won't move up far enough! Im 5'3" and 137 lbs, I have had trouble twice in a "panic stop" situation. What a crappy design http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif.

Oh and BTW Craig, I agree DRTY is very, very insensitive, mean and unpleasant.

I don't thinks its a leg room problem more then its a sitting comfortable problem. when I test drove the first H2, I had no head room and was forced to slouch, it was very uncomfortable , and I oppted to lean the seat way back. I cured this problem by purchasing a new H2, without sunroof! now I have plenty of room, I do hit my knee from time to time on the shifter(in park).
I will say I cannot drive a Viper for a simular reason, I can get in, I can push the clutch in, but I cannot close the door and release the clutch... bummer. being 6'5"/350lbs sucks sometimes.

Try putting the seat all the way down--use the button on the side of the seat----if that does not do it, I live in NJ and will move the seat back--it is NO big deal to tap new holes and bolt it back futher.

I am over 6-6, & 260 and I cannot relate. Is your inseam over 36"? I assume that you have tried all adjustments, but I find the H2 to be the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven. I have the bottom cushion all the way down at the back and all of the way up at the front. Then the seat back is angled back. There is enough room left to change pants!

I'm glad someone brought this up because I'm 10 foot 11" and my knees hit the ceiling, operate the sun roof and block my side vision when I drive the 2003, so I got the 2004 and now have no problems. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I'm also 6' 1" and with the seat all the way back in the 2004 it's perfect. If the 2003 is actually 3" closer than 2004 (which I don't think's the case) it would definitely be a problem.

I am 6'5" with a 38" inseam and the H2's leg room is just fine. With the seat properly adjusted, I have no problems completely stretching my legs out.

I agree with the taller gentlemen that there is enough leg room in the H2 to accomodate the tallest of men. I am 6'8" and have been hoping to get my H2 as soon as i saw it as a concept vehicle. It is the first vehicle where I feel is "fit" into it. I have had a pathfinder and a durango; loved them both but i will probably only buy hummer from now on as long as they keep them within a decent price and not looking to freaky.

Do you use the vehicle for work - if so I am assuming that you are either a circus stilt walker or an Elvis impressionist - lose the stilts or the platform shoes and you will be fine.
I am 6'4" - 03 H2 and heaps of room, though I did not get the sunroof - it did feel cramped with it in.

Yetti,

In 1980 I built a 429 Cobra-Jet and installed it in a 1973 Mach 1 Mustang. That motor was absolutely unbelievable!

Yetti
07-11-2004, 01:59 AM
its one of the few designs ford copyed from chevy that worked. if you take off the distributor & valve covers you can't hardly tell them apart. I have been looking to build a Boss 429 one day(Hemi), but the time and money are never in the right place.
http://i11.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/1a/e1/57_2.JPG

by the way, did you ever notice the notches in the shock towers on your 73? they were for the 429 Boss, but it was never put in on any production vehicle.

Klaus
07-11-2004, 01:23 PM
Yep, my favorite Mustangs are the 1971-73s. They have an engine bay that can handle any size Ford motor, and the suspension and brakes are much stronger than any other models.

I know what you mean about the money. At the time, I was making $3.10/hr. I put $3K in the 429CJ. Boss parts were not even an option for me. Way to much $$$.

Those CJ heads were amazing. The intake ports were HUGE. Even Ford called them "sewer pipes".

In 1980, the car was a monster. New Corvettes came from the factory with less than 200hp. It was just too easy. The car would run 60 in 1st, 120 in 2nd, and God knows how fast in drive. At 155 the front end started to "float".

What a ride!

Yetti
07-11-2004, 02:10 PM
I used to get the "float" at about 115, by 125 its gone and the down force over the car was doing wonders for handling. I never did find out how fast it would go. I had to many rough roads around lower Michigan. I did however get pulled over for 105 in 55 back in `87(I was slowing down to get off the highway), I just happend to look behind me and see the trooper about 1/2 mile back .
