As you know, we're having issues with our truck.... again in Moab. This time we couldn't exit 4-low to 4-high, or anything else for that matter. The T-case was stuck in 4-low.

Here's a quick remedy until you can find out and repair the real problem:

On the back of the t-case, start by removing the 4 10mm bolts from the actuator and remove actuator from truck. Chock wheels, start truck, engage parking brake, put truck into neutral.

Then using a vice grip, clamp on the "A" shaped pin and turn CLOCKWISE to go from 4-low to 4-high. COUNTERCLOCKWISE to go from 4-high to 4-low. You'll hear it engage just like it normally would.

Turn off truck.

Now the "A" pin doesn't line up with the actuator so install actuator on pin and rotate actuator into position and bolt back into place.

Restart truck.

Your dash lights should indicate you're in the correct gear now. If not, remove actuator and throw in the back seat.

You are in the correct mode now, so drive away and get whatever is wrong repaired as soon as you can.

That's a simple trail fix anyone can do.

Maybe RAAAARRR11 just wanted to stay in LOW and stay in Moab. It new it was almost time to go home and you needed 4HI to do so. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I know I wish it did.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Now, I'm a little pissed that it could have been "manually" eased into 4lo. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gifhttp://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Raarr!1 is still getting a good spanking when he gets home, he has been a bad truck. Letting that mean ole Kenny-Daddy turn his knobs like that.http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks for the useful info! I got stuck in 4 low once and found a big stick jammed underneath my truck by the t case. I pulled it out and was able to switch back into 4 HI. Maybee it was jamming that lever. I'll definatley print this out.

Think this would apply to H3's as well?

Maybe someone with an updated GMSPO SI that contains the H3 can see how the t-case works. I don't even know what t-case is used. But, likely it's very similar, just the actuator might be located somewhere else or look different.

Assuming there is no internal T-case damage it is almost the same...there are 3 bolts that attach the encoder to the T-case. If you remove motor you would be able to turn shaft(truck should be running and in neutral).
