Just wanted to get a current list of those who have an order in, or are waiting for the SUT.

Maybe we can all co-miserate here about the wait!

Im #1 on the waiting list here in Long Island, NY. But I am not the most patient person. Also, My dealer will be charging me $5000 over MSRP which is pissing me off a little. So, I might give in and go for the 2004 H2Suv with the in-dash navigation system.. At least I would only have to wait about 6 months. Does anyone know if the SUT will be 5 grand cheaper or is my dealer crazy?
I think we need a support group.. Someone has to help me get through this.

Gave up on waiting for the SUT; GM should have put more thought into this and been ready to pounce on the opprotunity to release the SUT one year after the SUV. I am debating on waiting for the 2k4 SUV. I am skeptical of the quality of the in dash nav. The Alpine one is what I really want in a nav. They need to up the HP in the engine for 2k4.

Dan,

Since the SUT has been delayed until April 2004 I'm now No. 1 on the waiting list at my Hummer Dealer here on Long Island. Rather than wait, a number of people decided to get the H2 instead. I'm not in a rush so I'll wait it out. Anyway, I have to build a new garage to house the beast. What color are you ordering? I'm drawn between yellow and black. I think I'll get tired of the yellow. Maybe they'll come out with new colors? I'm also upset at the fact that my dealer is charging $5,000.00 over the MSRP. I already told the dealer that he better work with me because I plan on having some modifications (i.e. rims/tires, exhaust, filtercharger) done by them. Please let me know if you hear of any news about the SUT. Have you heard anything about where the spare tire may be mounted? Do you know what kind of cover the bed will have (i.e. hard or soft)?

Thanks

Al

Hi Al,

I'm not in a hurry either, in fact the wait fits my financial planning.

As far as colors, I picked the Orange because I had to pick a color to get the pre-order into the computer. Im not sure if Im going to stay with that choice when the actual order goes in. There may be new colors by then so who knows. Lately I've been thinking about the black though.

And I havent heard anything new about the covers. Last info I have is there will be a paint matched hard cover & a soft cover to choose from.

As always, I'll post as soon as I get any new info!

I am still waiting. I guess I have been on the list longer than most everyone http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

They tried to sell me a SUV and guarantee me a price they would buy it back at when the SUT came out, but I turned them down.

Well, try out this link if you haven't seen it yet.

http://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehicles/hummer/h2sut/h2su_overview.html

It has some good stuff on there for an official GM website. I wonder why Hummer doesn't have this on their website, and why I had to go to Canada to find it?

I can just see our Canadian bretheren chuckling that they have better resoursces than us poor Americans, eh! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the link. However, this information is extremly old and most of us have already salivated about it for a good long time. Hummer took it off of their site cause it's old news and they don't want to put anything out there until they are ready to put on the full court media frenzy.
I am back on for the SUT since the wife is getting the more practical Lexus RX330.

Zooyorker,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I just saw your posting. I placed a deposit for the SUT at Ramp Hummer in Smithtown back in October 2002. At the time I shelled out the bucks I was number two on the waiting list. Brian, the salesperson I'm working with, told me a short time later that the number one person dropped off the list because he could not wait until 2004 for the SUT and therefore took delivery on a 2003. I don't like the fact I have to pay $5,000.00 over MSRP. I've talked to other out-of-state dealers who said they would not charge anything over MSRP, but I'd rather purchase the SUT from the dealer that I intend to have service the vehicle. Since I plan on adding some extra goodies to the SUT I told Brian that if I'm forced to pay $5,000.00 over MSRP they sure as hell better work with me when I upgrade the wheels, tires, and exhaust.

Have you driven the H2 yet? I test drove it two weeks ago. What an awesome truck but I can't wait to see the SUT in person. Now I just have to decide on a color. Brian said he will contact me as soon as GM delivers an SUT to them.

My dealer said he has the first white loaded lux saved for me. I dident pay a deposit,he trusts me. "I buy enough damm cars from the guy!" looks like I have to pay at least msrp but thats ok,to be the first is a cool thing. The only thing now is what to do with my H2,trade it in or let the wife drive it? Hmmmm? We will see about that when the time comes. BIG-C http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Is there any new news about the SUT? Hummer has been way too tight lipped about it. I would think they would start leaking info and pictures to boost up the hype a little more.
Sorry, just me being greedy for new info!

We are still building dies for some of the SUT parts.
I heard they are testing them at the proving grounds, preproduction assemblies.

I hear ya ktower, there has been a dry spell on SUT info. They need to throw out a bone every now and then to keep interest up! Not that I'm losing interest, but it would be nice to have some updates. We need some spy photos!

I am a bit nervous to find out pricing though... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

To quote the greatest trilogy of all time (before the original creator went nuts and added some real crap to the series with the next two):
"I've got a bad feeling about this"

55k is what I am fearing for the loaded rendition. They had better add on some really cool stuff and gadgets to make it worth the bucks though. We've been waiting way too long for them to move on this!

Dan
08-14-2003, 02:30 PM
55K for a loaded rendition is bad? That's pretty much in line with this year's pricing ('03/'04). A-OK with me. Less would be better of course!

I'm worried about those rumors of the SUT STARTING as ~8-10K MORE than the SUV due to its limited production nature. That would put the SUT into the low to mid 60s without tax. Ouch! That would definitely put a wrench in my financial plan. Im not like some folks here that have big cash. The current pricing is goal enough for me thank you http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My gut feeling is that the SUT will be almost identically priced as the SUV. Time will tell.

Did you decide on a color ktower? I originally wanted the Orange but now that its going away I'm currently liking the Black.

But with supposed new colors coming out for the '05s, who knows what I'll pick!

My brother in law has the 03 Avalanche in a dark charcoal. I think that would be cool; but all white safari with black trimmings instead of chrome would look more classic.
Who knows, I have to see it on the vehichle to really get the feel.

Dan

Same here, will have to wait & see. A friend just brought over his new Silverado the other day and it's that dark charcoal. I agree, it would be pretty nice on an SUT.

The perfect color for me would be the Zambizi Siler that Land Rover uses. I think the SUT ought to have their own special colors. How much is a custom paint job anyways?

I first saw a Toyota double cab in 1988 in El Salvador, fell in love with the concept, four doors and a small truck bed for hauling gear. [NOT supplies for work http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif]

So I only waited until 2001 until I bought mine, so I do "feel your pain" I hope your wait is MUCH shorter.

Here is some trany specs for the SUT,
NEW APPLICATION FOR HUMMER H2 SPORT UTILITY TRUCK
The new HUMMER H2 SUT will use the 4L60-E, but with a specially tuned 300-mm torque converter. This torque converter will produce slightly more torque multiplication initially, for quicker vehicle acceleration.
The H2 uses the 4L65-E

Wow, I didn't even know this forum existed. LOL

I'm #1 on the list at the largest dealer in Northern Cali (maybe all of CA). Production date of 5/3 - delivery supposedly 2 weeks later but I'm not holding my breath.

Stealth Grey Lux, with Ebony, NAV, Chrome, pretty much everything.

Most of the early builds are GM captured fleet vehicles, driven by GM/Hummer employees to shake out any bugs.I would bet thats what Yetti has been seeing.

I take it that you are one of those GM/HUMMER employees driving around to shake out any bugs as you recently posted pictures of yourself driving the SUT...

You should keep quiet as big brother GM is definitely on this board in a big way...
