Need more power from my H2, any suggestions?

I have a 2004 H2 and use it to pull my 25' toy hauler. I have found that I need just a little more power out of the H2 to pull the trailer at decent speeds down the highway. I have installed headers, exhaust, cold air intake and the Xtremeflow chip.

Any recommendations for an additional increase in power. I know what most of you will say, "supercharger!". I don't know if I want to go with a supercharger.

I do not know all the particulars about the Chip you have, but make sure it knocked out the torque management. That seems to be a top priority. Heck, Rod Hall should be able to come up with something good.

Chad Hall, Rod Hall's son recommend not installing a supercharger. The Xtremeflow will take care of the torque management. I just need a few more horseys.

I still say go with a supercharger. You can't beat the power to $ ratio.
Unless you want a quick occasional boost, then go with nitrous.

Anything you do to increase power will increase the stress on the powertrain.

It does not matter how you get more power, the transmission, transfer case, and differentials will have to transfer more power to the road.

Speed (more power) is a question of money. How fast do you want to go?

The supercharger is the way to go. If you are constantly "on it" then it will take a toll on the powertrain. If you are looking for an increase in overall performance for towing, mountain driving, getting away from the red light a little quicker, etc. it is perfect. I have had a number of Whipplecharged vehicles and the reliability is excellent. I have never had any engine or powertrain problems other than rebuilding my trans in my '94 454 Suburban at 75,000 miles.

All the guys are correct when thy said it wil take a toll on your powertrain. It's like wanting to have a Hummer, but not the attention.
They are a package deal.

More power will only seek out the weakest link.
Whether it be your drive train, your head gaskets, your oil viscocity or your pocket book.

I think the biggest thing to be concerned with is the transmission. Rebuild this with heavy duty parts and you should be ok. Well, not including the T Case ,http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, if you slap it around.

zero!! I am suprised it took this long for someone to say it. you are exactly right, if you are looking for something fun to drive, and looks great, and has amazing offroad abilities, then the h2 is the auto for you. but if you need something that is functional, with respect to towing only, then the h2 is WRONG for you. i would be looking at a F250/350 with powerstroke. when you look at all the ways h2's outperform other SUV's, it is a suprise that the towing capacity is actually lacking. this is really a function of the sheer weight of the h2, in this respect the engine is underpowered for the vehicle. put that same engine in a silverado 2500 series, and you will be able to pull a house.
