Since I can't get to my HUMMER, can someone please post the height in feet and inches an H2, no air suspension, with luggage bars? I'm buying a house and the garage is 6"10", my current garage is 7" exactly. Just wanted to be sure it would fit.

My Hummer sitting on Concrete is 82 3/4 inches tall at the highest point which is the cross bar on the roof rack. My Garage opening is 83 1/2 inches and it just does fit.

2003 H2 fully loaded with spare on board and NO AIR SUSPENSION.

Height = 78" without luggage rack Crossbars. 82" with Crossbars (according to specs). Sorry Bub, you're on the ragged edge with a 6'10" opening.

So I've got basically 1 and 1/4 inch of clearance. Well, as long as I don't do any bouncing, I should be fine. Hehe.

Thanks guys.

Once day I'll actually get to drive my HUMMER again. (sigh)

Bill, I see we're coming down to precision here, so let me share what I know. Jim is right...with the bars it's 82" which is what you're new garage is. Actually 77.8" without the bars. My garage happens to be 78" so I went down to the dealer and measured several H2s on the lot to verify. And these dimensions are quite precise. So my advice is to measure the new garage exactly and hopefully it will be 82 1/8" at it's lowest point in which case you'll be okay. But if not, get the crossbars anyway because they're detachable. And if you decided to not buy this house we all will completely understand. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Bill -- I don't think you have 1.25" clearance. 82" = 6' 10".

I just went and measured it again. It's exactly 83 inches except for the "L" bar that actually pulls the door open. But there is about a 1" I could take off of it with a hacksaw.

I'm just going to have to wait until my HUMMER gets out of the shop (2009?) and just drive it in while someone watches.

Ugh.

Thanks guys!

Bill, Just for you, I walked over to my garage and opened the garage door, all just for you. Top to bottom, exactly 82"(6' 10"). My Hummer with air suspension drives in with about 1/2" to spare. You have no problem.

this is a common question as I see form the discussion. I asked previously if the air suspension woudl enable the vehicle to drop below the factory spec. of 77.8" My garage is 77" and modifying it is not an option.

I did see an adjustable 4 wheel air suspension system on the web. Anyone know if its worth the effort? I believe that it was on the Amer. Hummer parts web-site.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, MAC! I appreciate the effort! (You know, I would reconsider this place if it didn't fit in the garage - pathetic ...)

How about width? How much clearance do you have on each side?

My garage is 104" not including the weatherstrip seal. I know it'll fit, but I hope it's not too close for comfort.

Anyone have a similar size & how is it working out?

Thanks,

Dan - I have tons of space on each side. About a foot. And it's a two car garage.

Yikes sounds like you are gonna be close...

My husband turned down buying a house bc the H2 would not fit in the standard garage.

I like the mirror idea.
