Also, consider a subscription to Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad. It's a good magazine with a lot of tech articles. While not Hummer specific, they DO do a lot of GM tech, and it's good to learn about other vehicles in general anyway.

I've read this mag for years and find it very informative.

I agreed with MIKE97ZJ. Go to the bookstore and check out the magazine section and you'll find lots of good things to read about. I used to read everything I could get my hands that pertained to 4x4's and dirtbikes.

I've been wheelin in Fl for over 25 years. Wish we'd had access to the imfo back then that we do now. I know several of the of the "Good O' Boys", most of them didn't care much reading, but they can show how to do it. Most of these guys eat, breathe, sleep off-roading. I know I was one of them, Totally Obsessed. Now, I do moderate wheelin...No more deep mud, just got tired of cleaning and tearing up things. We're pretty much off-road newbies, and we just bought the 4-Wheelers Bible book by Jim Allen and Rick Russel's 4 Wheeling basics video from 4x4 books. We love the Bible, it's modern and informative, and we're just watching the video now. It seems pretty good so far. I haven't liked Shifting into 4wd by Harry Lewellyn, he's overly wordy and spends about five pages on how to pack your cooler and cooler selection. To me, that's just logic. Hope it helps!

its about the best out there. he also does private lessons to get you up to speed if you are a newbie weeler and would rather spend alittle cash instead of learn by expierience.

I can see you guys dont care much for rovers by your posts but the guys of Discoweb have some very good videos as well driving some of the toughest trails there are.

I caught hell from very few for expressing a desire for an RR some time ago. As of now, I am hatching a plot to have my mother buy a new RR so in four years, when we'll probably move to the burbs, I can buy it from her.

You were joking about the I can see from your posts that you don't care for Rovers remark, right? I mean, we just got flamed and we're supposed to say hey, what have I been thinking, you're right, Disco IS better? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif And for the H2 guys, yes, we have small body parts? http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif There's a lot of respect for LR here, just not when we're being flamed.

One question: does the RR have an onstar or tele-aid type device? I haven't heard mention of it, and I can't have her get one (I'm the car nut in the family) unless it has such a device. She does lots of traveling alone and has had to use her tele-aid on her MB before.

The RR has every bell and whistle you could ever want. they are also much more refined then the RR's of the past. she wouldent be let down.

I was serious about the video's they are all well worth the watch/purchase

the Disco web video's are great for people that are curious about the difference between the right line and the wrong line on very tacticle trails. they do a great job on them.

I meant to say thanks for the tips. The Land Rover school in VT is only 20 mins away from our winter place, so we'll probably attend there as well. Have you heard good things about it? I've only heard good.
